What I would like to bring up into discussion is the possibilities of dual forcestaffs, or sometimes even more? The idea isn't to build two forcestaffs on the same hero, but on two different heroes in your team. This would increase the possibilities of their usages tenfold, and at the same time easing the build of other heroes! Just image how versaile and usefull it can be. If both heroes with forcestaff push an ally you got yourself 1000 distance moving room, maybe for a hero who might need blink dagger to improve his performance! This means that instead of spending money on blinkdagger one hero can increase their performance even more than usual — and faster! And as an addtition to this, in other senarios, you can increase the ganking potentional and lane control with the forcestaffs, which increases the area of your influense. Here's one example. Dark Seer and his possible ways of paying allows him to build forcestaff without messing with his performance to much. The same goes for, in this example, Twin headed dragon (with his really good stat gain). Now I've only picked these two heroes as examples, it doesn't have to be them. There's possibilities that other int, str and agi heroes can include a forcestaff in their build. The third hero in this example, Axe, who usually really benefits from a blinkdagger to be able to position himself fast in big fights, as well as all the other benefits, can save 2150 gold to spend on another item — in this example he goes for a BLADEMAIL! Forcestaff costs 50 gold more than blinkdagger, and for heroes with high stat gain or versaile playstyles 10 int, 10 dmg and 10% attackspeed with the force ability for 2200 is a real bargain! Twinheaded and Dark Seer would increase their influence in the game tenfold, with the many possibilities your opponent have to consider once they get their force staffs — and it goes fast. Once THD and DS got their FS:s, you never know when AXE might come (with more stats/items/function than he normally have this fast in the game), or when you or someone else will fly away from your formation! This is only one example of so many others in my mind! I don't understand why people don't dare to experiment more with the new possibilities! I belive we should try to promote the thinking of more than one hero. The basic flow of thinking today only includes «my hero». What about the ways of playing for others and with others? There's so much options avaiable for us, and yet we don't explore them! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- kingtipop;484566 Wrote: Eh well Force staff CD is a lot worse than Blink dagger, and really you need two to get the same range as a blink dagger which is then over 4000 gold for the same effect, also costing two item slots on different heroes + the fact that its not instantaneously, and you'd need to be in casting range for both. I think there's a reason why this item is still not being fully utilised and really it will never replace blink dagger in terms of initiation. Also, when initiating with force staff you need to be facing that direction which limits the ways you can enter the battle, which is a HUGE handicap for heroes like Axe or ES who need to be able to hit the battle at exactly the right moment. Overall I don't like this item as a replacement for Blink dagger, costs more, doesn't do the job as well. Needs to find another niche for this item in Dota Prizo;485763 Wrote: Force staff is not for initiating (yourself) so stop compare it with blink dagger, the uses of it is totally different. Double force staff could be great just have to find a good use for it (ultra support?), or maybe to instakill an enemy hero by pushing him to you :P (or away) EDIT: damned, ninjad.... You're both bringing up important points. If you're after the effect of Blinkdagger, dual forcestaff would of course be expensive and much harder to use. But it's also like Prizo mentions. It's not just about comparing the item vs item effect. With blinkdagger you limit yourself to blinking. With dual forcestaff you gain several functions, were trying to imitate blinkdagger is just one of them. Forcestaff will never replace blinkdaggers function. This is just one theoretical point from a strategic view. If you pick two heroes that can use forcestaffs, you will benefit from all variable situations 500 push range for 25 mana with 25 sec cooldown can be viable in - either defensive or offensive, at the same time that you will be able to combinate their effects (which btw imo isn't that hard to perform) to imitate blinkdaggers function. If used in a viable and benefitial way, you will hence allow this one hero to boost 2150 gold ^^ and not having to worry about taking damage before blinking!
