I disable Z whenever I play Shadow Fiend, Invoker, and Crystal Maiden. Otherwise it's always on.

if you are used to it, you should just keep using it. for me, its just easier to use keys closer til my left hand, so i can blink fast, while using spells, the 1 sec can sometimes get you killed, instead of claiming your kill. i group hero as ctrl 1, 2nd hero on ctrl 2(chen creeps/syllabears bear/leaver heroes etc), then on ctrl 4 i have my courier, and ctrl 5 i have my start beacon, so i can get to base fast to buy items, or use glyph on towers etc.
