A little summary related to the recent DotA/HoN events: DotA became the fastest growing games in the world almost toping the all-time nr.1 WoW. Now, a few organizations/individuals came up with the idea to harvest on the massive community since the only true creator (will clarify why I state he is the creator) IceFrog made the noble decision to keep the game free-of-charge for such a long time. A few failures came along in the form of Demigod, LoL etc. Then HoN appears, a complete copy of DotA. A true theft of intellectual property without a trace of creativity whatsoever. I'd like to make things clear here about one issue, although I would probably spit in the faces of all those who say HoN is better than DotA i won't talk about the HoN community at all. Since it only has DotA rejects and money-hunters and even so is not even a 1% of the DotA community, even a smaller percentage if you look at professional players. DotA still remained untouched and HoN was still nothing but a mere ripoff which wouldn't reach DotA's status in a million years. Especially when it comes out of beta stage. Now some words about IceFrog. DotA was a pretty popular mode before IceFrog came allong I agree, but so many w3 mods were too, and they all vanished as the original game itself. In my opinion, the reason DotA outlasted all w3 mods and even w3 is the huge effort IceFrog put in the game. We all know the golden age of DotA started at 6.27b when the game became fully usable in competitive play. The balance/creative tweeks and the huge amount of work he put into this game is just something that I as a DotA player will never forget and switch to some shiny new game. I know that most of you aren't that much in love with DotA history but I know you are aware that DotA is still the best game in the world regardless of the shiny graphics and commercials, and I'm not afraid that DotA will lose much of the community to these copies but what saddens me is that: gosugamers and mym basicaly had 1000% rise in page views ONLY BECAUSE OF DOTA! ( I know it's a pretentious thing to say but believe me it's true) Now turn their back to this game by advertising DotA's ripoffs for some quick cash. Do you think that we as the DotA community which is still a wast majority on these sites should send out a message in a form of boycotting these websites for their treason? I think that the resentment of all DotA players by their moves is not shown, so they didn't really think much while receiving the money and turning their backs on the community. What would happen to them if all DotA players who feel betrayed never oppened this site again. See what happened to the biggest DotA community site in history? Dota-allstars.com vanished in a few months... All I'm saying is: you should be more careful in what you do! S2 money will come to an end much before the DotA community dies.
