Hello everyone, This is my first blog here on gg.net and I would like to talk a little bit about BoT (Boots of Travel). As you are all probably aware of, Treads has become more and more used lately and people rarely get Travels. If you want movement speed, you usually get phase boots because it's cheaper and because you get other small bonuses as well. Now, I think this trend of getting Power Treads on almost every hero, started when IceFrog changed the Treads so that you could swap between 10 str/agi/int. This function makes it so that you can get more out of your bottle (->agi while you bottle up), get more HP on supporters, and quickly change it around if you need a little bit of mana to stun someone. I don't think the change on Treads were wrong, to be honest I really like the change, and I feel like Phase Boots are still viable in some situations. That leaves BoT out in the cold, see, in the old days you would usually get this item for carry heroes. Now it's just not worth it anymore, instead people go for Treads in the beginning (e.g. on Nevermore) because you feel like you need the extra strength from Treads to survive in the early phase of the game! If you get to a certain point in a game, you might sell your Treads and get BoT, but that does not happen that often anymore. I think I might have a solution for this "problem", and it is nor a nerf nor a buff for any of the three items mentioned earlier! BoT just needs a little readjustment, a "rework" if you like. So, here is my idea for a whole new way of building Boots of Travel! You will need boots (500g) then instead of having to buy the old recipe (2200g) already, you instead should be able to buy two sets of improving recipes for the boots (you can buy either of these first!). One of these should be to improve the movement speed of your hero, the other one should be the ability to teleport just like you can do it now with BoT. The cost of these two sets of upgrades should all in all be the same as the recipe from before. This would mean, that if you are playing SF or Mirana and you know you are getting BoT's later on, instead of saving up 2200 you could buy either the ability to teleport or the movement speed first, and then upgrade it once more later in the game. Or let's say you are playing Puck and you don't need the extra movement speed, you could just buy the teleport, and then maybe when you have no itemslot left, you could upgrade the speed of BoT. I think the movement speed upgrade should cost about 1000 gold and the teleport upgrade should cost about 1200 gold (the numbers can be readjusted of course). What do you guys think of this idea?
