H2k CoD4 and DotA fraud
Created 22nd July 2011 00:18 (Updated: 22nd July 2011 08:29)

Hello I'm Cat4KM from former H2k dota team. We've been part of H2k for some time now, and before signing the contracts (in which are clauses for at least 3 lans per year) we were promised for going to asus and if achieving top 3 to go to china on WDC after Asus. We also tried to get an invite for gamescom but seems that our inactivness left us with not much reputation to be invited to such events.

The story revolves mostly around Kevin Mikkelsen (COO of H2k Gaming) James Robert Gardner (not exactly sure what his job was except stay in touch with us) Aaron Simons (CEO of H2k gaming), H2k CoD 4 player OFNAA and the dota team.

Anyway about a week ago when we played against SGC 1 player from H2k gaming (who's playing Call of Duty 4) came to dota channel on h2k teamspeak. He started talking while we were playing so we said we'll talk to him after game. He informed us about a lot of stuff, such as their team being denied going to some lans, that they haven't recieved anything except a server from H2k since their joining to the team 10 months ago, and that the CEO of h2k is threatening him that he will sue him on court if he didn't send money to the organization (30% goes to the organization - says in the contract). I understand his decision fully that he didn't want to send any money to the organization - since they haven't shown them anything except empty words and plus in contract there is nothing saying about online won prize money, only about offline (LANs). He also said he denied joining other top organizations to play for H2k since it was a team with a long history and former great teams. He also said that Aaron has left H2k organization and that probably noone will go to any lans. So Aaron came to teamspeak, and we started talking to him and he said that he had nothing to do with H2k anymore and about James'es promises. He said that in his view there is very little chances that H2k can get enough funds in order to send us to Asus. Also he said that James has been banning him from every possible ways of contacting any of the team members. He joined teamspeak on another account and a lot of things happened like teamspeak server falling down a couple of times, people being banned and so on. After all that stupid internet "out-smarting" we started to talk to James who still kept saying his "Alice in wonderland story". OFNAA said to him a couple of times that how does he plan to gather enough money for both teams (cod and dota) to go to lans. After going through some numbers we realized he's not talking about facts, just that his words are simply impossible to trust.

Skype convo between James and Aaron:
[21:57:37] James Robert Gardiner: no i didnt
[21:57:39] James Robert Gardiner: never said i kicked u
[21:57:44] James Robert Gardiner: i said we parted ways.
[21:57:46] Aaron Simmons: you have :)
[21:57:53] Aaron Simmons: logs of you saying it james
[21:57:54] Aaron Simmons: :)
[21:58:02] James Robert Gardiner: show?
[21:58:04] Aaron Simmons: teams are showing me everything
[21:58:20] James Robert Gardiner: well i dno what uve proved here
[21:58:23] James Robert Gardiner: rather than just leaving fine
[21:58:27] James Robert Gardiner: you have destroyed it
[21:58:36] Aaron Simmons: i aint destroyed it
[21:58:42] Aaron Simmons: just warning the teams :)
[21:58:49] James Robert Gardiner: asif its all my doing?
[21:58:51] Aaron Simmons: as its impossible to get 2500
[21:58:56] Aaron Simmons: :)
[21:59:06] Aaron Simmons: you signed the contracts

After some quarreling we found out a new info, that James Robert Gardiner gave the money that was saved for our Asus trip to a GOW XBOX team from UK.

Skype conversation log between our manager Urke and Kevin:
[11:14:52 PM] Uros Krvavac: james
[11:14:53 PM] Uros Krvavac: droped
[11:14:57 PM] Uros Krvavac: our (dota) budget
[11:14:59 PM] Uros Krvavac: on GOW
[11:15:10 PM] Kevin Mikkelsen: Right .

At all times when we were talking to James I had a feeling he barely listened to us, replying with "mhm" "aha" and "right". We also agreed with OFNAA that we will publish this online so that people know what happened. The quarrel kept going, with a couple of nice lines coming from a CEO on skype:

[23:19:03] Kevin Mikkelsen: Uros started threatening h2k and Me
[23:19:07] Kevin Mikkelsen: that's my line
(meaning, that's his excuse for our reaction - release on news, etc)

As tension was rising we started quarreling and James ended up loosing his nerves leaving teamspeak saying "both of your contracts are terminated". The rest of the evening was pretty much us talking with OFNAA about what to do and so on. We agreed that we'll keep in touch via Steam. The next day we were informed that Jerry Wikkeling (the guy who generally controls everything) said that he will make sure everyone will get their promises.

[23:21:53] James Robert Gardiner: Jerry runs the invoicing for H2k through his own company, yes. Not a problem there?

Unfortunately I have only andre pasting what he said:
<H2k|ANdre> : I will look at it tomorrow. And send out a teams to the event that has been promised if im informed correct

Well yesterday we were finally informed, not by anyone, but by his blog: http://h2k-gaming.eu/blogs/3444 that H2k is no more.

We started to look for an organization the next day everything happened on teamspeak etc, but it's hard to find one that will pay for Asus on such a short notice. I've been in contact with some organizations but most of them are either not willing to pay or offering low amount of money (500 euros) which is not even 1/3 of what our plan was for bootcamp + Asus. We're also in contact with a couple of individuals who said they were interested, so who knows, maybe we'll eventually go there.

I did some research about these "partnership" contracts with a lawyer and guess what... They are not valid without sending your passport scans, which we didn't do. They don't have company info on the end where your signature is. It says "Applicable laws and venue: This agreement shall be governed and interpreted accorting to the substantive laws of The Netherlands." and not Republic of Serbia as well. (another mistake) "Player can not use other products which can be considered as competitive to H2k-Gaming's sponsor while playing official games" funny since we didn't recieve any gear.

After the incident I've looked at our contracts again and said to Urke that they're not valid and we must make new ones. I also said what I want to be changed and unless they changed it that I don't see no reason for staying in H2k anymore.

Anyway all in all, we said we'd attend Asus and WDC, I'm very disappointed that we won't be able to. (probably) We have a great desire to go, we just need to get a new organization that can keep it's promises. It was easy in Tribal.int to organize anything, you had serious people behind it all, people who make you feel like you're where you're suppose to be and not waste your time trying to figure out whose responsible for what, to negotiate with kids about money that you were promised. Last year we tried to find a sponsor for ESWC based on an invite, I even published some newspaper articles, e-mailed 15 domestic biggest companies in Serbia (recieved 0 replies) called city major and now, when you think you've got the organization everyone thought to be the right one, this happens.

Miage LAN - A memory
Created 25th March 2010 02:15

Attention, pretty long post! I wanna dedicate this post to all the fans that used to follow and support the old srs when I played for it a long with many french players whom I always respected and will respect. I'm only posting this because, I'm sure, not many people have read it and reading it after all this time, brought some dota emotions up, positive and nostalgic ofc. :) There are a lot of typos, but as I just read it, I think you can find the real meaning of some words.

To those who don't know what Miage LAN is, it is a big LAN event that srs dota team attended (lineup kiram jester fatal darka me) where we took 2nd place behind TeG. It was a tournament that helped better ranking for ESWC french qualifiers. We ended up winning the french qualifiers and gone to ESWC in San Jose.

What to say, I came back from France 5th march with semi-success.. We finished second behind TeG and won 750 + some pads and stuff. But I'm more than pleased. I met a lot of people who I've know over the internet for some time now! Some of them I know for 3 years now. It's almost as we've been through high school together! Besides the Frenchies I've also met SGC and TeG.

So, I've arrived at Paris airport (CDG) 23rd of February, on the airport jorge and his mothers friend waited for me, it was kinda odd when we shaked hands, even thought we both know each other for some time over the internet, and we've became very good friends, we didn't know if a hand-shake was really enough, but we eventually only shaked hands.

Even though I arrived, I knew it was pretty hard to get all the bagagge to his apartment, since I carried stuff for 12 days to wear, my whole PC, even my monitor and some gifts for jorge and his family.

When we arrived in front of the building where his apartment is, jorges mother and their little adopted son (who's Russian btw - he's very cool and pretty much restless :D - i mean he can run whole day without breaking a sweat) were waiting for us. When we finally got all the baggages to his apartment I realized that I forgot to brink my PC power cable, so we went to the nearby store Sarcouff. Which is pretty enormous by the way. I mean if you need some device which needs electricity - there's no way you can't find it there. I finally found what I needed and we hit back home.

The second we started playing dota I saw how much better internet and how much GGC works better in France compared to Serbia. After a few dota's it was time to hit the Paris metro to go to Parc des Princes (Princes' Park). Where we went to watch a football match of French Ligue 1 between PSG and Monaco. It was, to be honest, not a too good match, but I guess I was more than happy to see a different cheering culture, and I'm a big football fan. Besides that I saw "Kosovo is Serbia" flag on the stadium as well. It was pretty cold, during and after the match, I'll tell you that. When we hit back home, even though I had a jacket the rain and the wind were pretty nasty...

We finally arrived back home (it takes 45 minutes by metro and walk) and we hit back to sleep immediately. In the morning we had a typical French breakfast, bread + butter + jam, but with something I brought from Serbia, which is already eaten to be honest, as jorge said they loved it. It's called Ajvar and it's made 90% of paprika, and I'm not gonna give away the recipe, heh. I showed them the rest of my presents, I bought jorge a Serbian national football team jersey, and I gave him my Serbian flag (which is quite big). To his little bro I gave a world globe which levitates between two magnetic fields, it's quite awesome if you ask me, didn't come quite cheap as well too, and Crazy Frog dummy, I guess I really didn't know what were his interests. I also brought Belgrade guidebook on French and Serbian national drink Rakija (tastes similar like brandy). So when we finished breakfasting, I found out how bad my French is, lol. Basically I understood every 2nd word they were saying at best, even though I tried my best I ended up mostly talking English, even thought I wanted to improve my French. And I missed the bit when they said we were going to visit the Chateau de Versailles.

First we went to the apartment of the same guy who helped me transport all my baggage, where we had a nice lunch, pizza, French wine and Caribbean rum. Even though I found the rum pretty tasty I was more impressed by his apartment, throughout the whole length it had a terrace which was totally transparent, glass windows only, and I loved his poker machine, I can't really tell you more about it, besides the fact that I would probably lose my house to it..

Anyways, when we were done with the lunch we headed to Versailles. When we arrived, there were so many buses parked on the parking lot, I felt like we're not getting inside that day, and when we saw the queue for the chateau we just skipped it and went for a little walk through the garden, where we took some pictures and it was really relaxing in a fun way.. We roamed a little, and that's when I got to know Alexei a little better. :D He COULDN'T stop running, I couldn't believe a kid can have so much strength! At least we knew that he's gonna sleep well for sure that night! :)

When we hit back home, got into a car there was a little group of girls crossing the street and they were to be honest walking pretty slowly, and while jorge's mom was on the wheel, her friend hunk the horn once and turned his look away to the other side, lol.

Afterwards we hit back home and had a dinner and after 1 game of dota we went to meat up with Amyga to play some billiard. I usually play billiard on PC, not that much in real life, and amyga first won me and jorge 2v1, and then I won them 2v1 as well, was pretty fun, and to be honest we all sucked. :D We went to a nearby caffe for a drink, there's a picture in my gallery as well and we hit back home.

When we came back I realized I had a temperature, which sucked hard, since I haven't had a temperature for 5 years now. So I took some aspirins and went to bed hoping I would get healthy in the morning, which didn't happen, so the next day I pretty much spent healing up and playing dota with jorge.

When, the next day, I finally got a little better so we went to see the French national library. I had to make an essay about the library so I used this unique opportunity to take a few pictures and so we did. After that as far as I remember we went back and I went back to bed early (around 11) to get finally healthy!

And so I did, we both woke up pretty late, around 13, so our day was practically ruined and we couldn't visit anything, and it was raining so we decided we should stay at home and play some French VIP dota, later that day we arranged to meet up with Amyga to go to an Thai/Viet restaurant, and I looked forward to it, since I've never tried such food, so after a nice dinner and a nice talk with the guys me and jorge went to a cafe and I tried a Mexican beer desperados, which is pretty strong and tasty, and we head back home, played a little dota, and went back to bed.

The next day we promised that we're gonna wake up a little earlier to go a little around Paris, and after a breakfast, we did. First we went towards Louvre and on the way we stopped buy a place where jorge worked for a couple of weeks and where I met a Serbian woman that works there for quite a while, and we had a really nice chat, and we kept going to Louvre where I took a lot of pictures, I love Louvre (I was there in 2005 - but I ran out of film, lol) and people say you need at least 3 weeks to see the whole Louvre. We went to Napoleons Chambres which is quite impressive. We also went to see La Djoconda (the painting otherwise known as Mona Lisa), and after went to the the best known boulevard in the world Champs Elysees. We stopped by the Paris St. Germain shop where I shopped some stuff for my friends 'n' family and went to a big shopping center where jorge looked for a jacket and we rounded the whole day by going to the Eiffel Tower. Heh, an awesome day, gotta admit.

To be honest I don't know which day am I talking about now, my memory is quite dazzled. As far as I remember the next day we slept a little late and mostly played dota, and went to see a cybercafe and a cafe he usually goes out to where we rank some cocktails (I drank mai-thai - which I usually drink) and the place was really cool, ambiance and everything, I wouldn't mind going out there every week, too bad I didn't get the chance to visit it during the weekends/friday.

We head back home, thinking about how tomorrow is the D-Day, jorge and his family are going to the Alpes and I have to move to kiram's apartment for 1 day and after we go to miage lan which is the main reason I came to France.

We spent the day doing mostly nothing, going to grab something to eat, but mostly just hanging out and making plans about how we gonna travel to Orleans.

We went by metro to meet up with Xplo and his little Peugeot 107, lol. We barely got into it with all our bags and went to Orleans. On the way there we had a bad GPS that fucked us up and made us made a wrong detour so we lost like 20 mins fixing that, lol.

When we finally arrived I didn't know who to meet first, too many hands to shake to be honest. When we finally set up, 2 minutes didn't pass and we had to play a match already, and we finished the groups 4-0 pretty easily. Later we won the first round of winner brackets and in the second round we lost to TeG to play against Soycd mix team in the looser brackets, one of their players dropped even though we had a big advantage over them but we still agreed to play a remake of the game in the morning. Later that night we went to a hotel, after watching SGC loosing in looser brackets vs rwar/krabe mix, and they, sadly, had to leave France little earlier than expected...

In the morning (arround 8), very exhausted, we had to go to play our match vs soycd's mix team. Somehow all 5 + maryblue managed to get into the poor citroen and we head back to the university (where the LAN was played). We won our game vs soy mix and had to play the game vs krabe/rwar mix asap. The match lasted 112 minutes, somehow winning it after many buybacks etc..

In looser finals we played vs wL (who was there pretty unexpected, after beating SGC and soycd mix team). We played really good in that match, not making a lot of mistakes, and it was very smooth. The match was streamed in a big theater.

Finals, what to say, judge it yourselves, but imo the fact that we didn't train before the lan and managed to get a second place was more than enough for me. That and the fact that I met a lot of the guys I know for many years.

After that we went back to kiram's house, basically we didn't do much until I went back to Serbia, he helped me a lot with the baggages when we went to CDG by train, couldn't have made without him.

BIG thanks to Jorge, his family for letting me stay at their place, Kiram for helping me a lot with the baggages and letting me stay at his place, to serious-gaming organization for sponsoring us and to the rest of the players from srs: i)arka, jester and fatal for having mass fun! :D

Cheers, Mare out.
