zowie P-TF and G-TF (Mousepad) Some of you might remember might last blog, where I tested the P-RF, of which I sadly had to say that it wasn't good for playing SC with it. Though, this time I can give you a way different answer: This mousepad is awesome! It fits for whatever I do, playing SC, playing DotA, and I've also tested it with CS (I sadly got alot of lag on CS when I am on my lap, and my desktop is broken.. so the testperiod wasn't even quiet half an hour), and I gotta say that it works perfect for all of them. No jumping, no no reacting, just working as a mousepad should do. Last time some people also said that mousepads aren't needed, they got their table ... yea, but let me tell you one thing guys: After using a good esports mousepad, you will notice how crappy your table is, and that you don't want to use that one anymore! Okay, now, to the mousepad, which can also be found on the official website of zowie, here. So, zowie worked together with an imfamous CS1.6 player: SpawN (yea, I also don't know him, but seems he was a pretty big guy in the CS scene, then retired, but did a comeback and started to work with zowie, so they can handle out some things for better playing, and this is his first mousepad (they also got this guy heaton (or something like this) and just new: Neo (only guy from CS I've ever heard from, he is like a god or so there?)). The mousepad is hence, designed and tested by someone who knows what is important in e-Sports, which obviously speaks for it, right? Whatsoever, here go some details, taken from the website: Feature : l SpawN's first mouse pad l Unique and Original SpawN's textured ' 100% cloth but fast as plastic l Water-resistant surface allows for easy maintenance l Anti-fray Edges ' Triple-stitched, rolled hem for longevity of pad life preventing wear-n-tear l Rolled Edges ' Provides added comfort while playing l Compatible with all mouse types l Purposefully designed with non-slip grip rubber base l Dimension: 440 x 380 x 4 mm / 17.3 x 15 x 0.16 inches Okay, so, companies ofc always boost their stuff, and tell you what it can do for things, so people buy it. Sadly, it too often happens that those things aren't all 100% true (as usualy the battery of an mp3-player doesn't go as long as they say, nor did I ever manage to get 1k song on my 4GB, but barely hit the 700, and it's FULL). So I had to test it for myself, this is all made of clothing, so it would actually not be waterproof, or? Sounds a bit unrealistic, but I just tested it, and uh.. it doesn't take up any tiny bit of the water o,oa' Don't believe it? The gosu I am, I did a small video^_^; (I just got a freakin USB-Cable for my cellphone yesterday, so I had to test it:D ): Alright, this time I can say nothing negative about this mousepad, and that's good, right?:) it was a bit different to use it from my old Q-PAD CT GosuGamers Edition mousepad, but it is just not as height, as it, and after using it for some hours, I am now permanently using it, since more than a week already, and it's doing a perfect job, just as the Qpad. The sizes are something to talk about, maybe. The "small" one is already almost as wide as my 17" widescreen laptop, and a bit higher :O so, already pretty big, and that's all fine, it's the P-TF, btw. The G-TF, on the other hand is REALLY huge (the one in the video), and well, it's almost as wide as my extern keyboard, and way wider than the laptop, and also higher;) just huge, but also great if the have the space for it on your desktop;D So, last time I was asked where to buy it, and how much it costs, and well.. I didn't really had the answer right on my hand, so I got that information up, and here they are: Where to buy it? Check for your location here: http://www.zowiegear.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=39 How much does it cost, though? here the P-TF is available for just $25.99 (international orders) (my Qpad from GosuGamers was 27euro): http://www.aerocooler.com/shop.cart?action=ITEM&prod_id=MOZOPTF and the G-TF costs $29.90: http://www.aerocooler.com/shop.cart?action=ITEM&prod_id=MOZOGTF If there are any other questions, feel free to ask. I would recommend this any time, it seems good for all the things you do, fast movement, accurate movement, precise movement, it does its job for everything. Regards, LML

Concentration - A key.. as in every sport, concentration also plays a big role in e-Sport, so in StarCraft:BroodWar. Some people complain there is nothing to do in the early phase of the game, but just slip off your mind, to think about something different, and you miss a probe, or a pylon, that's how few you have to do, slip off the concentration: make mistakes. Mistakes, that you neither should do, nor you should allow to happen, especially playing versus good players, who then put a flawless game.. that's how it is, one guy plays crap, the other plays perfect (compared to their usual games!), and the guy who played crappy, leaves saying "bg", meaning 'bad game', while the other guy totally thinks "yea, sure, I raped you noob, I just played too good this game!". But does concentration curse all this? I doubt. Concentration is a big key, if your mother comes in while you are playing, and talks to you, and you also answer her, all you do ingame, are your natural "reflexes" you have gathered over the past 10 years, playing this awesome game, but overall, multi-tasking is something nobody can handle perfectly, which means, concentrating on more than one thing, instead of putting 100% on one thing, will curse the other things, all to get worse, thus does your play, while talking to your mum, discussing if you or your sister has to walk the dog today. Yet, the concentration part doesn't do the job on playing bad, all alone. Having some distracting things in mind, affects your play, by lowering your concentration on the game, but so does your body, if it is sore. Whatever you just changed on your usual behaviour, your body reacts, your game might get worse. You didn't workout over month, for whatever reason, and just started again? Your arms suddenly feel so uncomfortable ingame. Or suddenly the side blocks of your chair are somewhat disturbing? In your arms way? You feel uncomfortable sitting, while you sit just like that, since years, never sat different infront of your PC? All this, doesn't only steal concentration, but often also affects your reaction and your mousemovement, and fingermovement on the keyboard. That again brings up some anger, because you KNOW, that you can do better, but somewhat, your body doesn't want you to, right at the moment. Now, anger also has a huge impact on your play. Ever tried playing angry, the anger because of useless stuff, you shouldn't care about? It's there, and it doesn't want to leave, but you just cannot play this way, impossible. And now, as if it wasn't worth enough, your mum comes in AGAIN, because the dog just pissed in the living room, because you didn't walk him, and you are ingame, although you already played like crap, missing two probes, your first pylon, forgot to send your probes to the gas, and cannot micro for gods sake, as your arms feel so weird.. you get even more annoyed, how can she dare to disturb you, in your concentration? All this distracting.. anger.. hate now joins all this.. your arms don't do as they should, where does all thise energy inside you comes from? You want to smash something, but you are intimidated infront of your mum, that you rage because of this game, while you aren't one of those kids playing 24/7, and afterall, you have friends and stuff, and your mum might thing this isn't a good thing, and might get afraid, so you eat all this up, but the energy stays inside, and you need to do something else... scrubbing up the piss only does a low job on doing something else, as it doesn't take too long. The dog still needs a walk, though, and you get to move around, you can do whatever you want in the forest, while noone can see you, can you? Run around with the dog, you set all this anger energy free, you are done, you can go home, your dog is happy he could play, what is better? Back at home, back at your PC, the energy is gone, that incident already slipped your mind, happily, because now, it's time to concentrate again, and be the one showing the perfect game, while your opponent types "bg" and gets mad, but you feel good, because you just played a perfect game, yay! *Note: okay, lol, this turned into some kinda fantasy story, but w/e, have fun^_^;;

hey there, so I was able to test the mousepad P-RF from zowie. A short video from themselves about the video is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w51plFs86RU&feature=channel First off, a few information about the mousepad, from their page: P-RF Feature : * Water splash proof surface , easy for cleaning * Works perfect for all mice * Right size for designers & gamers : 340 x 290 x 4 mm / 13.4 x 11.4 x 0.16 inch * Special designed non-slip rubber base * Pure cloth surface could be bent without damage I've tested the mousepads for almost two weeks now, and I gotta say it's accurate and really great to use for FPS games, aswell as such games as DotA and WC3. The only two negative points, while one of them are certainly my own likes, are: The surface, I am usualy using a Qpad CT with a very smooth surface, while the P-RF from zowie has a bit rougher surface, not really making a big different, but I notice it. The other point, is a mousejumping, which I gotta say, only happens at one point: Mass selecting probes/drones/scv in the beginning of the game, it never happened to me at any other situation, nor SC mid/late games (with 250apm), nor in any other games I played, such as DotA, WC3, CS1.6 and normal computer usage. The mousepad is just as accurate as my Qpad CT, reacting exactly as I want it to, except for the mass spam in the beginning of an SC game (which might also come just from me, it might depend on how your mouse goes that way.. maybe my mouse floats a bit when I do it rly fast, idk). Afterall I would suggest this mousepad to all gamers, who need an accurate gaming mousepad, unless they are especially looking for a really smooth surface and unless they tend to spam in the early stage of SC games. Though, I am really looking forward their new mousepad, which will be a CT, designed in coorparation with the CS gamer SpawN (they will bring out several stuff made with his help, and also HeatoN (seems to be a CS gamer also) teamed up with them, so expect great gear soon), some information about that are available here: http://www.zowiegear.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=67&Itemid=2 More news (also a new headset just got announced, and that's something I am rly looking forward to:) ) : http://www.zowiegear.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category§ionid=1&id=1&Itemid=2

'Webdesign - Gay and.. yea' For school I am currently doing an eight week practical course, I am doing it in a small webdesign agency, because I simply love programming. I prefer the programming part, with PHP/MySQL, etc, the stuff that works always, as long as the server supports it, but the client has no impact on it. The design.. HORRIBLE! So many browser, interpreting so much stuff in so many different ways.. creating a website that looks good in all browsers? Time stealing. It's the thing that one big organization called "W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)" defines the webstandard, they say what is to be interpreted how, and what is legal.. sadly some people don't programm their browsers like this (yes, exactly, Microsoft InternetExplorer). The IE6 (InternetExplorer6) is one of the worst kind, he seems to do everything wrong, but the very basics, the rest he interprets wrong, or non-standard. A small, and simple, example: All websites are designed in small boxes, which are requantable, and can be set to a width and a height, aswell as given an inner distance for the content, to the edges of the box (called 'padding'), an outter distance so the box is that much away from other boxes and elements (called 'margin'), and a border. So, the W3C says something like the following: "The padding, and the borders are to be added to the width.". Ok, simple, or? So, you give the box 200px of width, and a border of 5px, means, left and right +5px = +10px = 210px. Padding also 4px, another 8px (both sides together), makes the box 218px. FireFox, shows you a bix being 218px in total width. IE, gives you a box being 200px in width. Trying to destroy your design?:( Alot of such things appear in the word of wedesigning. Just now I am reading a great article I got from poGDI: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/08/17/taming-advanced-css-selectors/ One great CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) (CSS is for the look, mostly put into an external file, and then stuff can be changed easy and the HTML script is easy to overview) operator is the ':not()', where, as the name states, you can asign an element to be not as the standard type of this element. The note under it: Notes on browser support Internet Explorer is our usual party pooper here: no support at all, not even on IE8. This probably means that this selector will still have to wait a while before some developers lose the fear of adding them to their stylesheets. This happens so often, already to be indicated at the "Internet Explorer is our usual party pooper here", because reading all the other "Notes on browser support" texts, you will notice that IE is like always mentioned, especially IE6. It's terrible, that's a good point for me to do mainly the programming part behind it, where the browser has nothing to do with. Here a nice site, for all those of you who create websites, try to get rid of IE6 (especially IE6 is crap, but the most used browser..): http://ie6update.com/ Ok, that's enough of my small rant on it for now;) I go have lunch now!;P

"A piece of StarCraft history - The UMS scene" As usual, all the information in here are written out of my head and are from my very own experience, I did not do extra researching for this! I personaly got into the UMS (Use Map Settings - Funmaps) scene due to my bad fail at StarCraft melee, when I first played on battle.net. Going 3-18 having two of the wins from observing games, I lost the interest in melee, it just wasn't the same as versus the computer! So I joined a UMS game, called 'Defence F!', a popular map back then, and still one of the most played Defence maps, I bet, it's just epic oldskool.. you build up bunkers trying to prevent the comming units to move from the right to the left, if only 1 unit gets through, you are dead! I liked these maps, but there was something better: Bounds. The system? Easy. A little level, with requantable fields, where explosions took place in a certain pattern, and you gotta bring you zergling through it, without dying (unless you had lives, as the harder maps, so you could try several times), while the explosions killed you. The maps mostly were for 6 players, and in intern circles highly appreciated, yet, pretty damn hard if you played one of the better ones. The pattern was impossible to see for a new guy, still impossible for those who played only public games with maps as "Crap Bound" or "Bubble Bound" where you always had one ling for 3-4level, but at least the pattern could be figured if you already played some semi good bounds and knew what it was about. The common mistake: people actually watch the explosions, where they are, but you need to watch where are NO explosions, because that's where you can go! Other levels were mazes where you died touching one of the maze building units, or magnetic levels, where your ling tries to move into the middle where alot of explosions take place, but you gotta massclick to avoid him moving there! Another big part were the defence maps, making defence structures, going from bunkers and photon cannons, over turrets, sunkens and spores, to marines and other units, often combined buildings with the units being special forces you could gain depending on your kill count. Ofc always new ways were invented, in 2004 (i believe, could also be '05), invisible bunkers were found.. what? invisible bunkers? Yes! An old way was to disable the bunker when the units entered it, so you couldn't unload anymore, while stacking was done by turning off the vision, but building bunkers on top sometimes blocked units from entering the bunker (common used bug in Defence F early game to block those tiny ways between the bunkers;) ), but this new method was awesome! You created a platform in the dark with ALOT of bunkers for a computer player, and when player1 builds a supply depot, he gets it removed, his SCV gets moved (so he doesn't block the bunker!), and a bunker gets created, also a couple of marines and those enter the bunker.. everything normal! now it gets its doodad state disabled (which didn't work for all units, btw, many units crashed SC if you could see how they got disabled! not: marines, tanks, bunkers, some other terran buildings, those turned invisible infront of the user without crashing, but like a zergling had to be done in the dark with a special trick: disable, enable, move, disable, give it to player (or something like this), and it was cloaked!) and then the new, revolutioned, feature kicks in: a bunker in the darkness, of the computer player, gets removed and the bunker of player1 gets moved there, you see a red dota there on the minimap, but you cannot go there, now, the bunker was gone... but! (and this one is a big but (not to be mistaken with butt!)) the units somewhat keps there? If an opponent moved within the range of that gone bunker, they units shot, and you saw how a marine/bat/ghost shot out of a bunker, which wasn't even there anymore! This way you could stack tons of bunkers ontop without blocking the computer units, no worrying about that! The scene was big, big names were in it, and people discovered more and more nice stuff, I once even created a map with Diemacht (some german useast UMS mapper/player) where we contained as many cool things as possible, as a lurker which stays burrowed and unburrowed, always in the middle state, but moving around, a civilist moving over null-terrain.. the bunker trick, a ghost moving slower than a reaver, all that, only with standard triggers, and more! Sadly we lost the map.. and he quit SC years ago.. at least I believe we lost it.. ;( It was alot of fun to get new creative ideas, and work on them, try to make them possible, while SC didn't give you the most opportunities as the WC3 world editor, which allows you SO MUCH MORE! With all these maps, created non-stop, always being something new (especially defence maps tried to take in new and unique ways in getting money and units), it slowed down again, as alot of people quit SC, some switched to melee (as me), some simply quit SC for something different, may it be another game, or RL.. but the scene came to a low, with the major page (StarEdit.Net, short: SEN) going down, but happily Maplantis.org came up, still featering the maps, but not living too long, but SEN came back now, tho, it lost its old map database, in which way alot of people lost several of their maps (including me). Now the community is stable, but as I am not part of it anymore, I don't know the exact size, but I believe it isn't even half as big, as it once was. The mainserver in the past was USEast, where numerous famous clans had thier channels, such as Clan Oo, Clan lil (I was part of this one), Clan uUu (also reffered to as (U)nknown ) and Clan MoD (which was mainly the channel, where many ppl hung out in). Those were the most popular channels and clans to be part of, alot of good maps came from these, and also new ideas, just check the databases .. The european mapping scene already died way earlier, just when I got into it, when such people as WriZZ, Kimsan and many more quit SC to move on (ofc, these names don't tell you guys anything^^ but it were great mappers and friends of mine), so the tiny rest (as me) moved on to east, where I stayed for a year or so, mainly mapping, while not being able to be online too much, sadly (damn parents:( ). Eh, I don't know anything more to write atm:) L8erz.
