WCG Asian Championship 2011 - Playoffs Spotlight

Readers who expected the same eight teams passing the group stage in both games shall be disabused, as both SkyNet and Aeon.SG managed to surpass their opponents Lof from Mongolia, respectively BBJ from South Korea in Dota 2, whereas they could not in classic DotA. Of lesser relevance is the victory that Mski.PColor achieved over Indonesian VelocyHyper in Dota 2, a team to which the Filipinos fell victim in DotA. Strong showings came from ESTC runner up Neolution, GosuCup 4 finalist MUFC and ESWC runner up EHOME who did not lose in either discipline yet. Further of note is that the Pakistani representative Virtuosity passed both group stages while playing one man short as the following photo proves. The hot phase in both tournaments starts in a couple of hours when the knock-out phase in best of one format leaves nobody an opportunity to slack. 6,000 US-Dollar have been mobilized to enrichen the top three teams of the Dota 2 tournament in the distribution 3,000 USD, 2,000 USD and 1,000 USD for finishing in first, second and third place.
