So1 Starleague Standing By

[s]ognstarleague[/s]

The new and upcoming Starleague, So1 OnGamenet Starleague 2005, is all set to go. This means look forward to some great matches and VODs to come.

As you may know, the OnGameNet Starleague operates on a group syntax. That is, the players in each group have to face each other, each group playing one match per scheduled event day (in this case, Friday). There is a special ceremony that happens before each and every Starleague in which the progamers, fans, and commentators come to a mega studio to carry out and watch, and discuss (respectively) the group selections.

The format in which the groups are selected is as follows:

One progamer selects another to be in his group. Later on, the selected progamer in turn selects another to be in the group. This completes each 4-man group and sets up who will battle who. The process itself is a very friendly and lighthearted one where the progamers, commentators, and viewers alike have a lot of fun. In fact, the group selection is actually separated into 4 VODs but the VODs rarely make it outside of the Korean community.

Without further ado, I present to you the official So1 OnGameNet Starleague 2005 groups:

So there you have it; those are the So1 OnGameNet Starleague 2005 competitors and groups. The first round is going to be played this Friday. A very funny occurance is going to be seen on Friday; South Korea JulyZerg vs. South Korea KT.MGW)ZergMaN. While it may not necessarily have made you laugh, it is very funny in the Korean community. Why? Because both South Korea JulyZerg and South Korea KT.MGW)ZergMaN have the exact same name in real life (Bahk Sung Joon), play the same race, and have "Zerg" in their screen name. Since Korean progamers are known by their real name in Korea, it's going to give the commentators a bit of trouble when trying to discuss this one.

Additionally, South Korea KT.MGW)ZergMaN is well known for his invincible Zerg vs. Zerg play. Then again, South Korea JulyZerg is currently ranked the as the best progamer in the world by KeSPA. Both players will have to practice hard as usual.

Finally, the famous "Terran Emporer" South Korea SlayerS_`BoxeR` is back in the OnGameNet Starleague after having sat the last one out. As of late, he's been doing much better than he was for a while, earning him a spot in the So1 OnGameNet Starleague. Whilst this time, the other famous Terran, South Korea [ReD]NaDa sits this one out. Happy viewing!
