Two of the most arguably powerful Chinese teams meet in the SMM Playoffs. With Burning behind a Lycanthrope and Zhou playing a Necrolyte, we have two of the most famously talented carry players fighting it out. To spice up the mix, we have Pandaren Brewmaster and Gondar on iG while DK picks... wait for it... an unprecedented Chaos Knight. Who will emerge victorious when these heroes collide? DK vs. WE

The Chinese powerhouse DK throws down against WE. DK has been streaking through the championships recently, leaving a burning trail of victories in their wake. WE, however, is no pushover, and have taken on a set of high-tier teams, coming away with victories. With Obsidian Destroyer, Invoker and Dark Seer fighting it out against Weaver, Puck and Windrunner, this looks like it could be a high-intensity game!

Features \ WCG Asian Championship 2011 - Playoffs Spotlight
The double-DotA event of WCG Asia made it's way to the playoffs. Teams from twelve different countries have made their way to Indonesian capital-city Jakarta and have got to participate in both a DotA as well as a Dota 2 tournament of equal structure.

Readers who expected the same eight teams passing the group stage in both games shall be disabused, as both SkyNet and Aeon.SG managed to surpass their opponents Lof from Mongolia, respectively BBJ from South Korea in Dota 2, whereas they could not in classic DotA. Of lesser relevance is the victory that Mski.PColor achieved over Indonesian VelocyHyper in Dota 2, a team to which the Filipinos fell victim in DotA. Strong showings came from ESTC runner up Neolution, GosuCup 4 finalist MUFC and ESWC runner up EHOME who did not lose in either discipline yet. Further of note is that the Pakistani representative Virtuosity passed both group stages while playing one man short as the following photo proves.

The hot phase in both tournaments starts in a couple of hours when the knock-out phase in best of one format leaves nobody an opportunity to slack. 6,000 US-Dollar have been mobilized to enrichen the top three teams of the Dota 2 tournament in the distribution 3,000 USD, 2,000 USD and 1,000 USD for finishing in first, second and third place.

Features \ .exe vs. uE
.exe and uE are fighting to decide who'll join MUFC at the ROCCAT GosuCup #4 Grand Finals. And both teams are a treat to watch because they're always surprising us with uncommon picks like Pandaren Brewmaster and Lifestealer. While .exe won their games against NFO showing a crushing mid-game, uE played two solid 4-1 games, allowing their carry to get strong in time to win the game. However, because both teams usually plays uncommon heroes, it's hard to predict what kind of game we'll have.

Features \ Pre-Match Analysis: MUFC vs. PANZER
Malaysia and Germany are now set against each other as the pressure rises. On the one side we have PANZER, a selection of German players known for their gutsy, crazy play and solid mid-game domination. PANZER have been on the rise recently, performing extremely well at ICS and proving very solid when under pressure. Pitted against them is one of the higher-tier Malaysian teams, MUFC, who competed at The International recently. Both teams have won the last two games played: this round is sure to be a scorcher!

Features \ DotA Report - October
With the continued development of Dota 2, I have decided to include both DotA and Dota 2 into this feature in order to present the most information. This month saw the birth of three new teams, the second coming of DTS, the revival of Kabu, and ex-MYM + OK players officially forming under the banner of Evil Geniuses. On the competitive front, DK took all the headlines in China, winning almost every single LAN they partcipated in. With all the championship wins, they raked in prizemoney in excess of $50,000. Na`vi added another feather to their cap, continuing to show their dominance in Dota 2 by winning ESWC. A major tournament to look out for next month is WDC of course.

Features \ Pre-Match Analysis: .exe vs. Virus

The winner of group A faces the winner of group B. This pits the German team .exe against the French team Virus. Both teams are seen to focus on the mid game, playing large arrays of mid-game carries such as Broodmother, Invoker, Weaver, Puck, Queen of Pain, Beastmaster and Windrunner. This means that we should really be in for a heated mid-game clash, with plenty of early-game aggression and some power-struggles on the side. While Virus is more established than .exe, even going so far as to compete in The International for Dota 2, .exe will definitely not go down without a fight.

A great aspect in this upcoming battle is a lack of reliance on farm. Since both teams have their farm distribution fairly well organised, we can expect a lot more high-pitched battles and edge-of-your-seat maneuvers than usual. With these two European teams raring to go, this looks like a match not to miss!

Features \ Pre-Match Analysis: MUFC vs. Orange

The winner of group G faces the winner of group H. This sets up a double Malaysian clash, with MUFC squaring off against Orange. Both teams have a penchant for centering their games around heavy mid-game and late-game carries. While there may be less early pushing and ganking from this match-up, we can definitely expect some fantastic teamfights and epic battles as carries such as Spectre, Obsidian Destroyer, Morphling and N'aix tear each other up. With titles such as the 2010 ESWC Malaysia tournament, as well as multiple awards and accolades in the Asiatic leagues, MUFC is looking strong. Orange, however, will definitely be no pushover: with well known, skilled players such as Mushi-, as well as a set of other strong players with recent titles to their name. This will no doubt be an interesting game.
