One of the most essential pillars and backbone in the competitive DotA landscape, ASUS, is going through rough times. In a personal blog on cyberfight.ru, ASUS head administrator Dmitry "d1monn" Kuznetsov announced, that due to a tight budget, the first three tournaments of the season will not take place via LAN.

One could mostly read disappointment between the blog's lines, as ASUS finds itself forced to break with the long lasting tradition of throwing one LAN party per quarter. In 2012, the tournament series will not be a regular meeting point for the Eastern European professional scene, as only the "final battle of the year", ASUS Winter Cup, will take place in a cybercafe during December.

More specific reasons, other than a difficult financial situation are not mentioned. Until now it seems further unclear, wether DotA or Dota 2 will become our...

INTERVIEW: Gest IDC commentators expertise

Coming up this weekend will be the first of twelve DotA tournaments, all held within the scope of the Gigabyte Gest International DotA Cup. Until January 2013, the best teams of Asia will get at each other on two days every month, to determine the truly best and cash-in money out of the staggering $30,000 prize purse.

After the last season of the Asian DotA Championship ended in late 2010, DotA in south-east Asia experienced a recession with only few offline events featuring a tournament for the game. Now, Gigabyte and the featured platform playcybergames are about to carry on the heritage of Garena and establish a new centralized competition, that can be referred to, when arguing which teams have what it takes.

Awaiting the first tournament matches of DotA in a long time, we interivewed the official commentator and big GosuGamers contributor David 'GoDz' Parker to get his opinion on what we can expect from the event:

357, KingJ, Dai, Awoke, Crystal
In the past week we have brought you news of the disbandment of two former powerhouses in chinese DotA; Nirvana.cn and TyLoo. With WE also officially replacing Crystal with XiaoLuo, this has left quite a number of free agents in the scene.

Born from the ashes of the teams which have fallen, we have confirmation of the birth of a new team. In an official annoucement on SGamer, Crystal, 357, KingJ, Dai as well as Awoke are actively seeking sponsors.

Team Roster:
357
KingJ
Dai
Awoke
Crystal

Even with this star-studded lineup it remains to be seen if the team can fill the void left by the disbandment of the traditional strongholds of Chinese DotA. Stay tuned for more updates regarding their quest for sponsors.

Yin Qi "xiaoluo" Luo, who was a stand-in for Evil Geniuses during SMM 2011, has been hand-picked by World Elite to fill the empty spot left after Jia Qi "Crystal" Shen's exit. This was confirmed yesterday on Replays.net.

World Elite have been playing with Crystal as a stand-in for DreamCup and The Premier League out of cordial relations with his former team mates. As they have now secured their fifth player both parties can look ahead.

Replays.net further spew on the rumours of a new quintet forming when reporting that Crystal wants to instate a team based around the former Nirvana players KingJ, Dai and 357.

After months of competing in the Chinese scene and almost virtually no achievements to back up their worth, Chinese sponsors TyLoo have decided to release their DotA team.

Remembered for being the birthplace of star carries such as Seaking and Hao (two players who have eventually left on for greater success in Nirvana.cn and PanDa respectively), TyLoo has seen a slump ever since the departure of its core players - a brutal sight caused by countless reshuffles and retirements.

The current roster with Kssssssss () who returned to the scene and immediately assumed leadership of TyLoo unfortunately never found its groove and sat at the bottom tier of the competitive Chinese scene.

Banana, Dai, Crystal (standin), Seaking, 357

After the end of the World DotA Championships, rumours spread like wild fire regarding the possibility of Nirvana.cn disbanding. Nv.cn manager insence has confirmed these rumours to be true and indeed Nirvana is no more.

With Nirvana forfeiting one of their recent Premier League games and showing up extremely late for another, the signs were there for those with the keen eye.

Insence:
All this happened quite suddenly, but also made a lot of sense. Regrettably, because of various reasons, the Nirvana organisation has to say goodbye to all our fans and followers. We thank all our players and managers who brought us many highs and excitement these two years. We wish them all the best, as well as all the others in the eSports scene. Good Luck. Good bye.

A message from The Director (excerpt)
Today marks another new and exciting year for e-sports, as we once again host together with our official partner Gigabyte and our official gaming gear Razer the yearly Mineski Pro-Gaming League.

G-MPGL will still send representatives to SMM 2012, as we have done so for the past 2 years. The performance of last year's PH representative: MI.PColor, placing 3rd on SMM 2011 is proof that this simple 10-month league truly has helped PH teams grow stronger as they prepare to face their international counterparts....
