From the first day on 18.February 2010 when I officially got my StarCraft 2 BETA key in like 5 AM - since then to the 5 AM on 19.February 2010 I was playing StarCraft 2 BETA. Non stop. My current stats is 34-7 and did play like 14 ladder games take or leave. First of all, let me say that this game no matter what has that addiction factor built into it. Like you know you needed StarCraft 1 "pump" your "stimpack" or else you will be nervous or mad because of not playing? Same thing as me and this game is no different. Heck, even after 10 minutes for getting proper meal and going to bathroom made myself nervous with not playing. Next stop is the graphics and performance - I have this configuration: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2,4GHz cloacked on 3,0GHz 4GB RAM Memory Powercolor Radeon HD4870 PCS+ Windows 7 Ultimate using 16:10 monitor of resolution of 1680x1025 All graphics and settings are maxed out and it works flawlessly. Also, there is voice game chat that you can use with your party and it works solid as me and Striker from here at GosuGamers did try it and eventually did make it to work. We also played 2v2 and they are very fun and dynamic. Battle.Net 2.0 is just awesome, but there is no channels. You can create parties and talk to them whenever you want and every party has a leader who finds a game for a party. I liked "the party" system very much ...but no channels? Are we up for IRC channels so we can have more then 20 people talking to each other in same time? If Blizzard is trying to make Battle.Net 2.0 ultimate platform for everyone - even a social aspect - this is a MUST. Besides of this, I also sensed that I just don't have anything to do with that automine in place. I mean, Blizzard did tell they implemented it because we will be doing something else - but I don't see that "else" - I was just spamming as ordinary, then better give me to place orders on each mineral for each worker then to just look at them. Of course, you can guide them for better effectiveness but that's far from what I want. One thing I also wanted to mention is - this one will make you slim and quit smoking. I like fired up 2 cigarettes instead of whole pack and eaten like 2 meals just because of the StarCraft 2 BETA addiction. ![]() F2-F4 keys are not in it. Zealot's, Zerlings and even workers somewhat automatically surround enemy when you attack. Everything if faster. Animation is too shiny, you just sometimes doesn't know what's happening. Put some splash damager with shiny attack like Psyonic Storm (with which I am really disappointed) or Archon's attack - and you have real big mess where you can just stare and watch and can't micro. In almost all games 1v1 i played Protoss and in some custom games did research tech trees of Zerg and Terran. Ingame you have tutorial and list of all units and which unit they are best against (counter to) and worst against (it's countered by). Also be very aware as loading screen presents you vs your opponet and often opponents have like Terran avatar (of Marine for example) but they choosen Zerg. You must read what race it says under their name. Chat in game must be fixed ASAP. I already posteted this to Blizzard's forums. In some iterations I didn't even see guy GG because it's : 1. Not to much clearly visible. 2. It's in the middle and that means in middle of all that flashy action 3. Units are just too SHINY to prevent it get in your field of vision MULE for the Terran's needs 50 energy to get and each MULE is so fast getting the minerals it's like mineral hack. To make things better, every Command Center can call down the MULE's, ergo veeery strong economy if you remember to press hotkey for it and just rocketsky yourself to macro heaven. In beginning you get 6 workers, 80% of maps I encountered has 2 gases in main and each worker brings 5 minerals and 5 gas in each trip. When gas gets red it means it's depleted and also you will feel how it's to be on one gas. I needed like 6-7 gas providers to SUPPORT, listen to this - 3 Starport Carriers. This was done easily in StrCraft 1 with 3 gas providers. Fully to semi-ful capacity of course. ![]() About buildorders: the old one works BUT with the exception that timings are waaay different and number of workers about dictating the flow of the game is different. This means that FE with cannons and wall against Zerg will work but not in same fashion like in StarCraft 1 when we come to when to build something (like 13 Nexus 15 Gateway etc.). Build orders I did used : PVZ Fast Expand (safe variations and sometimes without cannons against 12 Hatchery on natural) - Works 2 Gate Zealot rush - Works perfectly One base opener - Works great if you are good at microing the Phoenix against Queen and killing Overlords. PvT 1 Gate Tech - Transfers into standard PvT of StarCraft 1 2 Gate DT - Works perfectly and if they wall you can transfer them with Pylon in opponents main. How? Well you upgrade your Gateways into Warpgates and then you can summon all units from it instantly by the field energy of your choosing - pretty damn good and hard to counter. I won many games like this because opponents with all that flashy things forget about my secret worker in their base. Fast Expand - Doesn't work quite well, Terran has some pretty neat counters to this. PVP 2 Gate Zealot - Works perfectly - it's not easy to hold your ramp like in StarCraft 1 1 Gate tech (after it faster expo) - Solid strategy, hope he doesn't three gate Stalker it 2 Gate DT if you kill him OK if not - expo - Very good strategy, lot's of usage on this one. ![]() Also keep in mind that it's rather confusing hotkey system based so off and away of original StarCraft 1. I mean, "E" is for Probe and Pylon and that means my whole system that I had for 8 years of competitively playing StarCraft 1 - vanquish. Maybe to implement function to edit your hotkeys? Also, some hotkeys stayed the same what makes confusion more bigger and badder. I caught myself numerous times with hand flying to "P" and making extra Probe and getting Pylon on 9 because I was used to 4 workers. Ridiculous :) Didn't like voice acting in StarCraft 2 BETA. I really think the ones from StarCraft 1 are better at the moment. And last thing for today: Mothership. Did try it. Didn't like it to much but I don't hate it either. ![]() She has these abilities: Wormhole Transit - Something like Town Portal in WarCraft 3. You can transfer your Mothership to any of friendly buildings. Temporal Rift - Makes some kind of field and units in it are 30% slower, have slower attack speed and slower spellcasting. Vortex - It works for 20 seconds and every unit in it's field is like protected. It also has passive cloak for all units and your buildings ![]() ![]() ![]() In any case, that would rap it out for today. Now it should be my time for bead as I didn't sleep for full 24 hours. But I think it will be meal + toilet + cigarettes and coffee and off to play some more. Expect some other blogging as well for further days. Thanks and please comment. And yeah, Psyonic Stooooooooooooooooooooooooooooormmmmmmmm: ![]()

Nice! I wish I have your PC configuration. :P
nice post, I feel it kinda same way :-)
Hes right tho..im afraid this game will be firework show instead of game exp. gotta hope they tune shinies off a little.
im glad someone really talked about the more important stuff here, how things look. its hard to micro when the flashy stuff is all over the place. when i played wc3 i thought the micro was brilliant until the 3d (fly + ground units) really struck in the battles and the spells together was just impossible to know what was going on (maybe i was just noob) in sc its really simple to see whichu nit is low on hp, which unit is surrounded, which unit is stronger than others and how dangerous a spell is so far in sc2 i feel like it is gonna have some awesome harass micro and early game micro wars but later on the game it feels just totally impossible to see whats going on keep them blogs commin :D
I play on the low details (textures medium) and I have no problems with shining. :) Not at all.
Thanks on comments @ Morrow - I agree.
Nah guys, you just need to get used to it after all that SC BW Graphic. ;)

reminds me of dune ..
1. Everything is so shiny! I have mentioned it numerous time. Even minerals can distract player. 2. Hotkeys must be configurable! Absolutely must! 3. There must be some intelligent upgrades. Something like automatically attacking the weakest unit or stay away mode for just exploring the map and staying away from attacks (especially for observer) WE MUST able to vote for these changes. Otherwise the blizz team won't be able to see need for these changes.
@11 autoatack ?? i totaly do not agree with you! would u preffer unit formation alpha beta ? LOL, and behaviour, defensive agressive? play a diffrent game man. Starcraft originaly is imo so good becouse its simplicity, you have to do all by ur self, its about micro, and macro at the same time, and ur cordination beeing able to do all this things, not only your strategy. I didnt like even that u can have selected 10 gateways, u press z and there u go 10 zealots making in 1 second, u needed at least 2secs to do that in sc1 if you are really fast.
nice i have Q6600 and 4 gb ram too, but 2,4 how to overlock to 3??
i dont really understand this post, you can always set the details on low and everything is easily visible
