Blogs \ First impressions of SC2
poGDI @ 18th February 2010 12:45 (Read 2889 times).
This blog is just based on personal experience of my first 10 games or so.

Me and Enron thought that after the news about the beta forums that the game should come yesterday and it did! When I got the beta it was only 400~ users before me!

The first impression I got from the login in screen was that it felt modern and fresh but still got the old charm that said "This is still StarCraft". The battle net layout is great easy to navigate in and not hard to understand the different functions. There is a lot of settings that you can adjust to make the game like you want it. What I have seen so far considering the preference you need to play the game is not that high if you compare to what you get in-game. I started to play on the standard settings that Blizzard made for us, with 1280*1024 with medium details and I had no problem what so ever with lag. There is no network lag in the game itself either, they have really done a great job removing it.

Setting up the game is easy you get 4 buttons for 1on1, 2on2, 3on3 and 4on4. And also buttons for Zerg, Terran, Protoss and Random. You can't do wrong here just click on the game mode and what race you want then Find game!

To get to know the game I went (And will for the entire beta) random for the first game and it ended up in a Zerg vs Protoss. The first game didn't go that well! I sat down and tried to figure things out, but it's really easy to get to know the game. Most hotkeys are the same so that helps out a lot.

The game it self is better then I expected and, I think its fast and you have to micro a bit more then in Brood War while targeting units but not as much in WarCraft 3. The mix is awesome and I believe that StarCraft 2 will be a great as an eSports game. I will really enjoy all awesome strategies that will be made and as the gameplay develops more I think and hope that the game will be loved and played as much as StarCraft.

Ill update you all with some battle reports later on!

Remember this is just my own toughs!

Thanks for notifying it. It was one of my main concern, i'm relieved now.

Ehhhh... I wouldn't be so happy yet... Keep in mind that the majority of the masses aren't putting load on the servers because of the number of beta keys released. If the network lag remains obsolete AFTER EVERYONE HAS SC2 AND IS PLAYING ON BNET then I'd be impressed

yeah, and to add to what #10 written, probably not everyone will have a link powerful enough, and sometimes lag is just inevitable, like when plaing with a player from a great distance i.e. a match between a player from poland and korea.

You don't play on battle.net in sc1, they just help you find your game and then and then you play over your own network.. I believe that sc2 is the same..
