DotA will be developed by IceFrog and Valve. They teamed up to envolve DotA!

You guys liked HalfLife? I think everyone enjoyed HalfLife or Counterstrike back in the days. And even HalfLife 2 was amazing. In my opinion Valve is like Blizzard: Everything they touch becomes gold!

Now the most amazing thing that could EVER happen happened. As IceFrog stated in his Forum, he will work together with Valve (say: He leads a developers team) to push DotA to higher grounds.

This can stop all the arguing about HoN or LoL becoming successors of DotA, because with this, even the graphics may become superior.

For me this is the right step. Now let's hope for the DotA Scene to become more professional and I see a great future for DotA in general!

I have some really awesome news I'd like to share with you guys. I am now leading a team at Valve! I finally have all the resources needed to do some very exciting stuff that you guys will love. I look forward to revealing more specific details when the time is right.

My goal and top priority in the future is to solve the surrounding issues that affect the DotA experience in order to allow it to reach new heights. Addressing these issues will enable us to further enjoy aspects of DotA such as the gameplay, mechanics, and in-game feel that currently work well and ought to be maintained. As I've said many times in the past and especially after today's developments, I am very excited about DotA's future!

With regards to the 6.64 patch, the focus will be primarily on more balance improvements. It is moving along very smoothly and I expect to have it ready soon. Once those refinements are done, I'll be working on some fun new content such as heroes or remakes for the 6.65 version. If there are specific things, big or small, you want me to consider for patches that follow, let me know.

BEST NEWS EVER. I was really afraid for IceFrog with people switching to HoN and all. But it's solved now. Go IceFrog!

Yeah, I was bothered too because so many people are switching to HoN. But now it's for sure, DotA is the game to play!!
Blizzard: Wc3 and IceFrog+Valve: DotA - perfect mix ;)

Love the enthusiasm but you guys do realize that Valve doesn't have much to build this from, so they have to take it very much from scratch.. Meaning, ~2-4 years until release.... also you can probably forget about Blizzard allowing Valve to use it's products, so much of the naming and stuff has to be redone.

I'm not saying it won't be great, but I fail to see the real difference between this and HoN... or maybe LoL. Also, by the time Icefrogs game is out, HoN will probably have a huge Fanbase.

The best of all of this is the competition it will create between the different developers of the dota-clones.

The worst thing is that we might split up the community between 4-5, maybe more, games. Making the game weaker from an e-sports pov.

Whoever wins, I hope they win by a huge margin. My bet is on HoN.

@#37, #33 actually makes a very, VERY good point. While I disagree with the outcome he has predicted (HoN coming out on top), the community does risk being torn over a few games, and I agree that the winning game has to be the clear cut winner, or we will all suffer.

Also, can the people writing news at GosuGamers please learn how to spell and structure sentences properly? It's really quite annoying having to read the random English on the DotA part of this site.

Im skeptical, that this is the right direction for DotA. Not the at doupt that they could develop some really cool stuff, but i can't see what this will change, but i suppose that not my job ^^.

#37 - What in my comment suggests that I'm HoN brainwashed. And yeah, it's my opinion, ofc, what else would it be. If it's crap or not I'm relly not the one to judge, but I still think that I'm entitled to it. GosuCrew or not (and that part is maybe questional).

You also do realize that Dota is a huge success not only because of iceFrog and that a lot of the previous developers are involved in HoN and LoL? Or are you that iceFrog-brainwashed? =)

Either way, all I want is a good dota-style stand-alone game that will be accepted by the public. From my pov I think that game might be HoN. But I'm not so blinded in my HoN-love that I won't try the new IceFrog game, and if good and being supported by the community, play it and host it in tournaments.

In the meantime, try HoN, bets are that you won't go back to Dota... or maybe you don't dare to try?

Or for that matter, try LoL when the facebook beta starts (if they ever reach 40k fans =( )
