MPL's masterclass are heading to the M3 World Championships

With the MPL domestic events over, it is time to look towards the upcoming M3 World Championships.

With all MPL regional tournaments complete, it is time to begin building the hype for the M3 World Championships. Now that all 16 teams are confirmed, having been chosen through various MPL regional events in both the Southeast Asia region and Brazil, M3 qualifiers in Arabia and North America, and Championship tournaments in Latin America, the CIS and Turkey too.

With that in mind, we take a look at some of the teams confirmed, who they are, where they are from and possibly their Mobile Legends: Bang Bang experience, where available.

MPL's shining stars

Recently we have witnessed the MPL grow to massive new heights, bringing their amazing regional leagues to the likes of Brazil and Cambodia, while continuing to build and grow the rest of the communities. Of the 16 teams which will appear at the M3 World Championships, fighting for the title, 11 hail from regions with a MPL tournament. However, the following eight teams are versed in the ways of MLBB far more than the rest.

MPL Singapore

  • EVOS SG – Season 2 Champion
  • RSG SG – Season 2 Runner-up

The Singapore representatives for the M3 World Championships are two teams that have essentially been first and second in their region for two seasons. Since splitting into its own region to produce MPL SG earlier this year, EVOS SG and RSG SG have both battled in the grand finals, with the Tigers taking the win on both occasions. While RSG have struggled to stand up against them, the team have shown excellent growth, managing to secure themselves the second-place spot – and the chance to represent Singapore at M3.

Both teams have a vibrant history when it comes to MLBB, with their organisations known across the globe. For both EVOS and RSG, this season saw them having three teams across the MPL SEA regions, however, these were the only two to make it to M3. It remains to be seen whether EVOS SG can repeat the EVOS Legends M1 victory, but both these teams have a shot at taking down everyone in their path.

MPL Malaysia

  • Team SMG – Season 8 Champions
  • Todak – Season 8 Runner-up

Malaysia saw one of the biggest surprises, as Team SMG blasted through two of the favourites in the playoffs, Orange Esports and Todak. Even before the grand finals, SMG were ahead of the game, and when it came down to a rematch versus Todak, they were not about to choke. The two grand finalists will now look to make their mark on M3 later this year, but whether or not they can withstand the firepower of the other regions and teams remains to be tested.

Team SMG are definitely going to be one of the teams to watch at M3, but we also have to keep a look out for Todak, who will be participating at the World Championships for the third time, having not missed a single one. That said, even though they have a MPL title under their belt, Todak seem to often falter at the last hurdle - but this could be their year to lift the M3 trophy.

MPL Philippines

  • Blacklist International – Season 8 Champion
  • Onic PH – Season 8 Runner-up

Arguably one of the strongest regions in Mobile Legends, the Philippines boasts two incredible challengers for the M3 World Championship title. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, the winners of MSC 2021, Smart Omega Esports, are not one of these squads, having finished MPL PH Season 8 in third place. However, the now two-time champions of MPL PH, Blacklist International, will be ready to face all opposition, while Onic PH will be joining them, having played a fantastic tournament both in the Regular Season and playoffs.

When it comes to MLBB, there seems to be no better region that the Philippines, producing some of the greatest teams and players in the game. While Bren Esports will not be defending their title this year, Blacklist and Onic seem like easy contenders to take all the spoils. For Blacklist, nothing short of a grand final is expected, as they have been on a warpath since the beginning of MPL PH Season 7, with only Execration being able to dismantle them. The Queen is hungry for another trophy, the team are ready to fight, and the code is barely breakable.

MPL Indonesia

  • Onic – Season 8 Champion
  • Rex Regum Qeon Hoshi – Season 8 Runner-up

While Onic’s Philippines roster couldn’t take their local league, the main squad stepped up at MPL Indonesia Season 8, carving a magnificent path through the event. One of the biggest surprises for the region include the elimination of both Alter Ego and the reigning champions, EVOS Legends, as neither will feature at M3. However, the two that will feature have definitely proven able to put on a magnificent show, if their grand finals are anything to go by. Considering that Indonesia is still one of the powerhouses of MLBB, we should see some magic from these rosters.

Having finished second in a nail-biting grand finals at M1, while taking third place at M2, RRQ are certainly going to be one of those teams itching for their world championship trophy. Although the team are sometimes slow off the mark, once they find their footing, they are an unstoppable force. With title aspirations like no other, RRQ are going to be one of the teams to look out for at M3.

While this is only half of the teams heading to the M3 World Championships, we are already set for an epic event. M3 has been confirmed for December 2021, with no exact dates currently known. But, with all the teams now in place, and the domestic leagues wrapped up, we are sure Moonton will give us some information in the coming weeks.
