Dota 2 Canada Cup returns with its 7th Season

Featuring a slight format change but returning with the same impressive $20,000 starting prize pool, Dota 2 Canada Cup will begin the qualifiers for the seventh season this month, on 23rd of April.

Announced with the hopes of being the largest competition from all seasons, Dota 2 Canada Cup #7 partners with FACEIT to hold a massive open qualifier round with no less than 256 slots available for signups. The top four finishers will advance to the next stage of Dota 2 Canada Cup #7.

The open qualifiers will commence on April 23 with the rounds of 256 through 32 being played throughout the day in a best-of-one single elimination format. The competition will continue on the next day, April 24th with the rounds of 16 onwards. Round of 16 forward will be played as best of 3 matches.

Based on fan feedback and community suggestions, the Dota 2 Canada Cup Season 7 will introduce a GSL style group format, where there will be no ties. The top four finishers from open qualifiers will advance into the GSL group stage. After the GSL group stage ends, the playoffs will begin.

The GSL group stage will kick off on April 26th and will run until 12th of May with four different groups. The top four finishers from open qualifiers will advance to these GSL groups. Top two teams placed in each GSL group will begin the playoffs journey from the upper bracket seeds while bottom two from each GSL group will start from the lower bracket.

From the twelve invited teams to participate at the Dota 2 Canada Cup #7 four have been already announced.

Same with the previous season, Dota 2 Canada Cup will boast a $20,000 starting prize pool that can be increased via cosmetic items sales. The entire tournament will be broadcast by Moonduck.tv. Three more streams will be available for the Russian, Spanish and Portuguese commentary.
