Blizzard Releases Video Documentary for its 20th Anniversary

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Blizzard has recently released a 48 minute video taking a look back at its 20 years of history and the people behind it. With a great balance of humour and information, it is a great look into how such a great game developer came to be.

The Blizzard Retrospective takes a look at the history of Blizzard Entertainment from when it was just a small company named Silicon and Synapse to the release of its most successful game, World of Warcraft. The mini-documentary takes answer type monologues from the leaders of Blizzard such as Mike Morhaime and Frank Pearce. It also has quite a few comedic moments, many of the jokes coming from Sam Didier, Senior Art Director for Blizzard.

It is a great video that tells an almost rags to riches story of a small company with developers playing Magic cards on the floor to a large campus of over 1000 employees. It's not just a great story of Blizzard, but it also helps to give an idea of how technology itself in the gaming industry has changed over the 20 years.

In its 20 years, Blizzard has gone through many changes because of technology and its expansion into different genres, but several things have always stayed the same. Gameplay first and embrace your inner geek are just two of the mottoes that Blizzard has stuck to all these years.

Not just for young gamer developers, it is a very interesting and enlightening video for all of Blizzard's fans.
