PGL Major Kraków 2017 - Valve intoduce map veto changes

Valve have announced adjustments to the tournament map veto process five days prior to the LAN finals of PGL Major Kraków 2017.

With just five days remaining till the commencement of the PGL Major Kraków 2017 group stage, Valve have announced adjustments to the map veto process. The information came to light after teams studied the rulebook, apparently sent to the teams on Monday, July 10th. Under the new changes the high seed of a match-up will decide the map played post-veto, whilst the lower seed will have the choice of side on said map. Additionally, the lower seed is granted three consecutive map bans, whilst the higher seed remains with two.

The map veto process for the PGL Major Kraków 2017 group stage will be as follows:

  1. High seed bans two maps consecutively
  2. Low seed bans three maps consecutively
  3. High seed selects map out of two remaining options
  4. Low seed selects initial side

As for the play-offs we will see the following map veto process:

  1. High seed bans map
  2. Low seed bans map
  3. High seed selects map
  4. Low seed selects map
  5. Low seed bans map
  6. High seed selects decider map

In the scope of PGL Major Kraków 2017 this will mean that the "Legends" will have a slight advantage going into the group stage of the event, as the eight proven teams will be deciding the map to play on, allowing them to pick the most favourable out of two options. In regards to play-offs, teams with a better group stage performance will be securing the high seed in the quarter-finals, whilst in the semi and grand final bracket order will decide the seeding.
