DreamHack have announced the open qualifier for their event in Valencia, Spain.
DreamHack Valencia 2017 is the next stop of the ASTRO Open circuit, once again featuring a $100,000 prize pool. Eight teams from across the globe will face off in Valencia, Spain in a bid to secure the lion's share of the six-figure cash prize, in addition to bragging rights as Champions.
As per previous iterations of the circuit, the tournament will feature a total of eight participants. Of the eight, five will receive direct invites, whilst three teams will be admitted via European, North American and Iberian regional qualifiers. The two former qualifiers will be composed of two stages: the open and closed. A total of two open qualifiers (one per region) will be available for teams across the region to compete in. Brackets are restricted to 512 teams maximum, with the top four from the open qualifier admitted to the closed qualifiers. In the closed qualifiers the four contenders from the previous stage will clash with four invited teams in a bid to secure the sole spot at the LAN finals in Spain, Valencia.
As for the Iberian qualifier, KPI Gaming have already secured a placement at the LAN finals, following their 2-0 ,map sweep against Giants Gaming, winning 16:6 on de_Mirage and 16:7 on de_Overpass.
