Blackpoison joins eNergy eSports

The player is sticking close to home despite numerous offers from international teams.

Robby "bLacKpoisoN" Da Loca is joining one of his former team's biggest rivals, South Africa eNergy Esports, according to their Facebook page. He'll be replacing former team captain Stefan "Nefan" Smit.

"Robby has a proven track record, immense experience, skill set and the professional attitude which he would bring into the Energy lineup," the team wrote on their Facebook page. "Robby has had some phenomenal performances on the international and local scene and has been recognized as one of the best players in South Africa due to his consistency, experience and his fragging ability."

The addition puts to rest rumors of bLacKpoisoN joining teams outside of South Africa, which included US teams. In an statement to HLTV.org, bLacKpoisoN mentioned that the reason he was sticking to local teams was due to his father being diagnosed with cancer:

"With regards to the offers, I had a deadline to join and be in North America as league rosters were about to be locked," he said in the statement. "After my father finished his treatment I tried to see if there was a plan that could to made to join one of the team offers I got or try approaching other teams but because rosters were locked for the rest of the season it couldn't happen."

His switch to eNergy means he'll be facing his old team, Bravado Gaming, as rivals in upcoming events. The two South African powerhouses have gone back and forth in matches dating back to 2014.

With his former team, bLacKpoisoN won the Telkom DGL Masters 2016 and placed second in WESG 2016 Middle East & Africa tournament. Bravado was also able to qualify for ESEA Season 23 Global Premier Challenge and take home first place in the Evetech Champions League Season 1.
