ESL One: Cologne 2017 - Closed qualifier information

ESL have revealed additional information regarding the ESL One: Cologne 2017 closed qualifier.

With ESL One: Cologne 2017 in just under three months, ESL have announced additional details pertaining to the European closed qualifier for the LAN finals. To remind you, ESL One: Cologne 2017 is a $250,000 prize pool event held at the Laxness Arena in Cologne, Germany. Sixteen teams will clash on the servers on July 7th-9th in a bid to prove their capabilities to the world. Last year's iteration of the event sported a Major Championship title and saw none other than SK Gaming take the crown over Team Liquid in the grand final. This year the tournament was not granted Major Championship status, however it's still as highly anticipated as prior versions.

The European closed qualifier will offer a total of twelve spots: nine for teams that receive direct invites, one for the victor of ESL Meisterschaft and two slots for victors of the open qualifiers. All matches during the closed qualifier will see a single-elimination, best-of-three format, where the two semi-final victors will secure placements at the LAN finals in Cologne, Germany.

Below is the schedule for the two-day closed qualifier:

Saturday, May 20th - Round of 12
15:00 - Start

Sunday, May 21st - Playoffs
12:00 - Quarter-finals #1 & #2
15:00 - Quarter-finals #3 & #4
18:00 - Semi-final #1
21:00 - Semi-final #2

All closed qualifier matches will be streamed on ESL's Twitch.tv channel.
