Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2017 - ViCi Gaming overcome TyLoo to qualify for LAN finals

ViCi Gaming overcome fellow countrymen TyLoo in the grand final of the Chinese/Mongolian qualifier for IEM Sydney, securing their placement at the LAN finals in Australia.

ViCi Gaming secure the sole Chinese/Mongolian qualifier LAN spot at Intel Extreme Masters XI - Sydney 2017 after defeating their countrymen TyLoo with a 2-1 map score. They are the seventh team to be confirmed for the finals, with the last spot to be filled by the winner of the Oceanic closed qualifier. The LAN finals of Intel Extreme Masters XI - Sydney 2017 will take place on May 6th-7th. Eight teams from across the globe will visit the sunny island to determine the finest of them all.

For a recap of the events that took place during the grand final of the Chinese/Mongolian closed qualifier, look below:

de_Cobblestone - 10:16 (7:8, 3:8)

The Chinese teams kicked off on Cobblestone, where neither was seemingly able to demonstrate a convincing performance. As the teams went shoulder-to-shoulder in rounds, eventually TyLoo were able to snatch a single round lead on the CT side prior to switching over. On the T side, TyLoo were much more capable of performing, as the team consistently breached the defence and found opening kills, allowing access to bomb sites. The struggle on the CT side for ViCi Gaming was real, as they conceded a 3-8 second half to TyLoo, allowing their opponent a 16-10 initial map win.

de_Train - 16:11 (6:9, 10:2)

Next up was Train, where ViCi seemed to be very close to conceding the series at a two map loss. The initial half saw another sub-optimal T side performance, as TyLoo come up with answers on the defence. Despite struggling, ViCi didn't drop the ball entirely, conceding a three round lead at half time (6-9). The second half of Train was a pivotal point for ViCi Gaming, as the team re-focused and started raking in the rounds on the CT side. TyLoo seemed lost, able to produce but two rounds over the entirety of the second half, whilst ViCi ran away with a whopping ten, in turn securing the second map of the series with a 16-11 score line.

de_Overpass - 16:9 (9:6, 7:3)

The deciding map was Overpass. On this occasion ViCi Gaming started on the CT side of affairs, where they showed a decent performance. The first half saw a fairly close score line, with VG pulling slightly ahead at 9-6. Having switched sides it became apparent that TyLoo were not prepared for the aggression that their opponents had in stock. Not only did ViCi Gaming secure a victory, they did it in flying colours with a 7-3 second half. ViCi Gaming grab a 2-1 map score, along with a spot in the LAN finals of IEM Sydney 2017.
