DreamHack ASTRO Open: Tours 2017 - Gambit & mousesports complete invited team list

DreamHack issue the final two direct invites for the ASTRO Open: Tours 2017.

The DreamHack website has been busy this week as the organisation announced the invited teams for both Tours 2017 and Austin 2017. Today, the final invites for DreamHack ASTRO Open: Tours 2017 are revealed. Daniil "Zeus" Teslenko's Kazakhstan Gambit Esports and Germany mousesports are confirmed for the $100,000 tournament and completed the invited team list by joining France G2 Esports, France Team EnVyUs, CIS Natus Vincere and Denmark Heroic.

Apart from the invited teams, two more teams will compete in Tours, on May 6th - 8th. The final two teams for the event will be decided at regional online qualifiers in Europe and North America, with each offering a single spot. Looking back, mousesports secured a quarter-final placement at DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017 but lost a significant amount of firepower since then as the Bosnian star Nikola "NiKo" Kova? left the team for Europe FaZe Clan. On the contrary, Gambit have been steadily improving since their victory at DreamHack Open: Winter 2016, securing back-to-back quarter-final placements at the ELEAGUE Major and DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017.

Gambit's participation at DreamHack Tours 2017 also means a potential matchup against the Ukrainian mastermind's former team, Na'Vi. The two teams have not met prior and a clash would add extra stories to the event in addition to alternate scenarios that would witness a G2 - EnVyUs derby and mousesports upset despite the loss of NiKo.
