Update: Negev, Revolver changes

This evening's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Update has updated the Negev and Revolver in addition to their removal from MM.

In an unexpected patch today, Valve has decided to pull both the Negev heavy machine gun as well as the R8 Revolver out of Competitive Matchmaking in tandem with the numerous changes made to both weapons. Of the two, the Negev has seen the most improvements with the introduction of new firing sounds for the gun and a radically different recoil pattern, which becomes extremely tightly grouped after firing the gun for a few seconds.

The R8 Revolver has also received a buff in an attempt to make the gun more viable, with the firing "wind-up" being drastically reduced, with currently no modification made to the weapon's damage model. Both the R8 and the Negev are currently not available in Valve's official Matchmaking services, with no ETA on their reinstatement given from the developers.

In terms of user interface changes, the friends browser has received a number of useful improvements including dedicated tabs for friend requests, recent players from games, and nearby lobbies. A friend code system has also been implemented, allowing CS:GO players to add one another using a unique alphanumeric tag that is randomly assigned. de_canal has also received tweaks in this latest patch, fixing a number of clipping issues as well as adding and removing objects in both bomb sites. GAMEPLAY

  • Revolver and Negev have been removed from Competitive Matchmaking as they undergo substantial revision.
  • Revolver:
    • Firing delay significantly reduced
  • Negev:
    • New attributes to promote suppressive fire.
    • Reduced price.
    • New sounds that dynamically indicate weapon accuracy.


MISC

  • Added ability to add friends using CS:GO friend codes.
  • Added recent teammates and invites UI on the main menu.
  • GOTV connections will now use SDR in most of the regions.
  • Fixed missing texture on Huntsman Knife | Ultraviolet
  • Added convar mp_items_prohibited which takes a comma-delimited list of weapon definition indices to prohibit from purchase on the server.
  • Lowered volume of ambient sound in de_vertigo to match ambient volume of other maps.
  • Fixed several OSX graphics crashes related to running out of vertex shader constants.
  • Fixed a game crash related to game stats.
