Australian team Chiefs announced the departure of Michael "Lightstep" Hall with Peter "pecks" Nguyen replacing him as a trial.
Chiefs were playing as a 5-man core for 10 months. During that time, the Australian team finished ESL ANZ Championship Season 2 second and took the first place at Acer CyberGamer Autumn 2017 regular season. Despite these achievements, Chiefs made the decision to change their roster just before the Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2017 qualifiers.
In the official announcement, Chiefs captain Tyler "tucks" Reilly stated the decision to release Michael "Lightstep" Hall was made in order to "continue to make progress".
Although it’s a very tough decision to make, we believe for our team to continue to make more progress, we need to make a change.
With that being said we are very excited to announce Pecks as our new 5th leading into CG/ZEN/IEM on a trial period. Pecks is someone who I think is incredibly skilled and can really become one of the best players in our region with the right leadership. We can’t wait to show what we can do with this roster.”
It is also announced that the team will use Peter "pecks" Nguyen on a trial basis for Acer CPGL Autumn 2017, ESEA Premier, ZEN League and Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2017 qualifiers.
With the roster change, Chiefs will field the following roster:
Tyler "tucks" Reilly
Alistair "aliStair" Johnston
Josh "INS" Potter
Liam "malta" Schembri
