China Cup 2017 - TyLoo defeat fnatic Academy to become the champions

China Cup 2017 came to an end as TyLoo defeat fnatic Academy 2-0 in the Grand Final.

The $99,000 prize pool tournament finalised with TyLoo lifting the trophy. The Chinese side that recently boosted their strength with the signing of Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand topped group A against their local rivals, China Born of Fire and Singapore B.O.O.T-d[S]. The semi-finals saw TyLoo defeating 5POWER 2-1.

Meanwhile, TyLoo's opponent in the grand final, Sweden Fnatic Academy also finished first their group as a result of their victories against eFuture and 5POWER. The Swedes proceeded to face B.O.O.T-d[S] in the semis. Maikil "Golden" Selim's team defeated the Singaporeans 2-0 and advanced to the grand final.

The grand final matchup consisted of local fan-favourites, TyLoo and the Swedes of Fnatic Academy who were in search of their second Chinese title after China TOP 2016. The grand final saw two evenly-matched teams fighting, but in the end TyLoo stole the victory with 16-13 scorelines on both maps to win China Cup 2017 and the champions' award of $58,000. TyLoo's first foreign player and their new signing BnTeT continued to make things easier, as the Indonesian player grabbed 52 kills throughout two maps in the grand final.

The tournament also hosted a third-place decider which was won by B.O.O.T-d[S] against 5POWER. By doing so, the Singaporean side secured third place and raised their winnings by $4,000.

Despite failing to win the event, fnatic Academy received $22,000 as a prize. You may find the full standings and the prize distribution of China Cup 2017 below:
