Team Liquid receive last invite to DreamHack Open: Austin 2017

Team Liquid is the sixth and final team to receive a direct invite to DreamHack Open: Austin 2017.

Team Liquid finalise the list of direct invitees to DreamHack Open: Austin 2017. With the American representatives securing the sixth direct invite, now only two teams have the chance to receive placements at the LAN finals in Austin, Texas, United States via the European and North American qualifiers. Information regarding the schedule and format of the open qualifiers has not yet been released.

As for the format of the LAN finals, we will see the eight teams split into two groups of four. The group stage will see a double-elimination, best-of-one format. Top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament, whilst the losers' and decider matches will see best-of-three series.

Following is a table containing the six invited teams:

Team Liquid have recently gone through some roster changes, where we saw the departure of long time member Spencer "Hiko" Martin, replaced by ex-OpTic Gaming in-game leader,  Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz. With over a month left until the commencement of the tournament, Team Liquid should have ample time to integrate and get comfortable with their new leader. Regarding recent performances, Team Liquid haven't really shown fantastic results. Late 2016 saw a bunch of 5th-8th place finishes across various events such as EPL S4 LAN Finals, Northern Arena 2016 - Montreal, IEM XI - Oakland and others. Most recently they fell short to Immortals in the grand final of the IEM XI - World Championship Americas qualifier, missing the chance to participate at the LAN finals in Katowice.
