Gambit join list of participants at DreamHack Open: Austin 2017

Gambit are the fifth team to receive a direct invite to DreamHack Open: Austin 2017.

Gambit Esports join the list of participants at DreamHack Open: Austin 2017. As of the announcement, five teams have received direct invites to the event that will be held in Austin, Texas, United States. A total of $100,000 will be up for grabs at the event, taking place at the Austin Convention Center this April 28th-30th. The prize distribution of the $100,000 looks as follows:

1st place - $50,000
2nd place - 20,000
3rd - 4th places - $10,000
5th - 6th places - $3,000
7th - 8th places - $2,000

As noted prior, so far five teams have been invited to participate at the event. A total of eight participants will be seen at the LAN finals, six of which receive direct invites and two slots are reserved for the European and North American qualifiers. Below we present a table with the current invitees:

Gambit Esports have recently shown promising performances. Late last year they were able to overcome Renegades in the grand finals of DreamHack Winter 2016 in a two map sweep. Following, they participated in the DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017 - European qualifier, where they made it into the semi-finals, subsequently securing a slot in the LAN finals of the event. Next was the ELEAGUE Major, where the CIS mix secured $35,000 for a top eight placement, more importantly they are now classed Legends, meaning they receive a direct invite to the upcoming PGL Major Krakow 2017. Finally, the most recent performance from Gambit saw a decent showing at DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017, falling to North in a two consecutive maps.
