DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017 - Virtus.pro to semi-finals

Virtus.pro surpass mousesports by two maps to one in the quarter-finals of DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017, securing the second spot in the semi-finals of the tournament.

The second semi-finalist of DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017 has been decided, as Virtus.pro made quick work of mousesports in two maps of three. The initial map, de_Train saw a lop-sided game, whilst de_Mirage was the complete opposite, coming down to the 30th round of the map. Mousesports were able to prove their ability to contend at the highest level of CS:GO, however the sheer experience and skill of Virtus.pro proved to be too much to handle for the youngsters.

Below is a brief recap of the two maps that took place:

Poland Virtus.pro vs. Germany mousesports

de_Train - (8:7, 8:1) 16:8

Mousesports kicked off the series on a dominant note, grabbing the initial pistol round. As per usual the following two rounds were also secured, placing the team at a familiar 3:0 score. The domination halted at 5:0, when Virtus.pro secured their first round of the map, in large thanks to Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski's double kill. Following this retaliation the plow awakened, grinding out rounds in their favour, contrary to the lacklustre start. The teams went shoulder-to-shoulder throughout the first half, cutting the score at a slight advantage to mousesports at 8:7. The latter half could not have been any more different. The plow was full speed ahead on the T side, allowing only a single round slip in favour of the European mix. Eight rounds were amassed as the Poles demolish mousesports with a 16:8 score.

de_Mirage - (6:9, 10:5) 16:14

Virtus.pro carried the momentum through to de_Mirage, kicking the map off on the T side. The Poles were able to get the upper hand on several occasions, allowing for an overall lead by the end of the initial half. Whilst the defence of mousesports was indeed impressive, they weren't able to produce a surplus by the end of the first half, falling three rounds short of Virtus.pro's T side at 6:9. On the second half we saw a very close performance indeed, where mousesports were essentially fighting for survival and a chance at staying in the tournament. Neither team let their guard down, creating a high pressure atmosphere that only one team could endure, and it seemed that Virtus.pro had experience in their favour. The Poles snatched the match at the very last round of the map, closing out the series with a 16:14 score on de_Mirage.

Virtus.pro secured the second semi-finals slot, whilst mousesports dropped out of the race with a top eight finish at the tournament.
