Below you will find a game by game recap, complimented by tweets from each of the victors:

Game One

Europe Mousesports vs. CIS HellRaisers - 12:3, 4:4 (16:7)

An overall comprehensive victory from the European mix of mousesports, as they secure a victory on de_Cache. The initial CT side dominance caught HellRaisers  off guard, leaving the team scrambling for answers, all the while mouz were consistently outperforming their opponents. In the second half, mousesports culled the lamb after securing four rounds to four. The European mix stabilises at a 1-1 record, whilst HellRaisers are on the edge with a 0-2 map score.

Game Two

CIS Natus Vincere vs. France Team EnVyUs - 12:3, 4:3 (16:6)

Natus Vincere produced a solid performance on de_Cobblestone, where the CIS mix kicked off on the CT side. Seldom were the Frenchmen able to overpower the defence, as Na'Vi were able to answer all of the aggression thrown at them. Said performance lead to a half time score heavily skewed towards the CIS mix. After switching sides the Frenchmen attempted to mount a comeback of sorts, the possibility of which was quickly dispelled by Na'Vi. The CIS team moves on to the brighter side of the scoreboard with a 2-0 score, whilst EnVyUs are content with a 1-1 record.

Game Three

Brazil SK Gaming vs. Europe FaZe Clan - 6:9, 9:6, 4:2 (19:17)

The only match-up that saw an overtime, this was truly a clash of titans. The teams met on de_Mirage, where initially things weren't looking too good for the victors of the previous two majors. A deficit was amassed in the initial half, leading to questions as to whether or not SK would be able to comeback. The Brazilians proved, however, that they were more than capable of dealing with setbacks, as they reciprocated the opponents' score from the previous half, pushing the match into overtime. In said overtime SK Gaming were able to secure a three round lead, placing them on the prestigious list of teams with a 2-0 match record. FaZe on the other hand are back to the drawing board with a 1-1 record.

Game Four

United States Team Liquid vs. CIS FlipSid3 Tactics - 6:9, 10:5 (16:14)

Perhaps the sloppiest match of the day, Team Liquid and FlipSid3 Tactics felt like a FPL pug match. The match on de_Overpass  was riddled with miscommunications and misplays from both sides, producing a rather fascinating match, for all the wrong reasons. The initial half saw FlipSid3 perform slightly better than their Western opponents, allowing the team to run away with a three round lead prior to switching onto the second half. The second half posed a surprise for FlipSid3, as Team Liquid were to mount a comeback on the T side of the map. Despite a colossal effort from Yegor "markeloff" Markelov, where the Counter-Strike legend pulled off two consecutive round clutches, he was unable to keep his team in the race, placing the Ukrainians one match away from elimination. Team Liquid joins FaZe, EnVyUs and mousesports with a 1-1 record.

Game Five

Sweden Fnatic vs. Denmark North - 5:10, 11:3 (16:13)

Contrary to the previous match, Fnatic and North showed some excellent Counter-Strike on de_Cobblestone. Initially the Danes were red hot, scoring round after round on the T side of the map. Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's leading meant that the team would run away with a five round lead prior to switching sides. When it was Fnatic's turn to switch on the aggression, they gave it their 200%. The team that hosts three major title holders flipped the switch, asserting great dominance over the defence. Said dominance continued right through to the end, where Fnatic managed a comeback and placed themselves amongst teams with a 1-1 record, whilst North deal with a situation where they can potentially exit the major in the group stages with a 2-0 record.

Game Six

Denmark Astralis vs. Canada OpTic Gaming - 8:7, 8:5 (16:12)

An entertaining match-up on de_Train between two of the finest CS:GO teams. The initial half of the map saw reciprocating motion between the teams, where neither was able to really run away with a significant lead. At the end, Astralis managed to spring ever so slightly ahead, securing a single round lead by the conclusion of their CT side. The latter half, contrary to the prior, was skewed towards the Danes' offense, where the team managed to make it to the finish line three rounds before the North American mix was able to. This victory meant that Astralis would join the ranks of teams with a 1-1 record, whilst OpTic contemplate the next move with an unfortunate 0-2 score.

Game Seven

Kazakhstan Gambit Gaming vs. Sweden GODSENT - 11:4, 5:5 (16:9)

A strong performance from Gambit, as they swoop their Swedish opponents off their feet on de_Overpass. Zeus and co. set off on the CT side of the map, where they successfully held bombsites and fended off the offense. A strong performance from Gambit, coupled with multiple mistakes from the Swedish side made for a half time score heavily skewed towards the CIS representatives. The second half didn't pose anything spectacular in terms of a comeback, leading to a comprehensive victory for Gambit. The team joins the elite ranks of the 2-0 record teams, whilst GODSENT equalise with a 1-1 record.

Game Eight

Poland Virtus.Pro vs. France G2 Esports - 7:8, 9:6 (16:14)

The final match of the day was ever so close. The Poles and Frenchmen clashed on de_Nuke, with a match so exciting it had us on the edge of our seats. Kicking things off were G2 Esports, that managed to hold their own on the CT side of the map. Whilst the performance was not dominant, the French secured a single round lead before switching over to the other side. Having jumped over to the CT side, a lead was still not established by any single team. The only appropriate end to this match would have been a 15:14 score line, where Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas secures a 3K against the opponents to close out the map, which he did, placing VP amongst the 2-0 elite, whilst G2 Esports sit in the middle with a 1-1 record.
