AEMG announce female CS:GO league

Earlier today, the Australian Esports Media Group announced the launching of a Female Esports League, WPGI, set to commence on January 22nd.

The event will include six teams, all female, that will compete over the next month, with a LAN finals being played out on March 5th. The prize pool for the event is $10,000, and it will be League in the Oceanic region to feature match payments to players as part of the prize pool.

The goals of the league are to help develop the future careers of female gamers, offering more opportunities, growing diversity, and promoting advancement of female players in the growing esports industry.

Further to this AEMG and WPGI would like to thank all teams and their players for their cooperation in agreeing to exclusivity around female only competition in Oceania. This support is vital to the esports ecosystem and allows WPGI to invest long term into providing career development opportunities for players and community members, legal assistance and allow us to work together to build a sustainable future for female gamers.

Along with the announcement of the league, AEMG also announced a partnership with Women in Games International, a group that shares similar goals of furthering the careers of female gamers.

Commercial partners and additional information about the league and teams participating will be released in the coming week.
