ECS Season 2 Finals - Astralis and Team EnVyUs through to semi-finals

The Danish and French roster of Astralis and Team EnVyUs have surpassed their opponents, securing two of four spots in the semi-finals.

Day one of the ECS Season 2 LAN Finals has concluded, determining two teams that advance straight to the semi-finals of the tournament. Said teams turned out to be Astralis and Team EnVyUs, both of which secured two consecutive victories in their respective matchups. The teams now wait for the last two teams to be determined in tonight's decider matches.

Following are brief recaps and statistics for each of the teams:

Group A

Denmark Astralis - Semi-finals
W:L - 2:0
Won againstCanada OpTic Gaming - de_Dust2 (8:7, 8:0), Europe FaZe Clan - de_Mirage (10:5, 6:1)
Lost against: No one.

A flawless run for the Danes, as they manage to take down the very team that prevented them from securing the ELEAGUE Season 2 Champion's title, OpTic Gaming, with a 16:7 score on de_Dust2, followed by a victory against FaZe Clan, with little to no resistance reflected in the 16:6 score line. The team now proceeds to the semi-finals of the tournament, awaiting the victor of group B's decider match-up.

Europe FaZe Clan - Winners' decider
W:L - 1:1
Won againstUnited States Cloud9 - de_Mirage (10:5, 6:1)
Lost againstDenmark Astralis - de_Mirage (5:10, 1:6)

FaZe Clan secured the second placement of group A, as they superseded Cloud9 on de_Mirage with a 16:6 score. They did, however, fall to Astralis in the third match of the group, meaning that the team would have to overpower the victor of the losers' decider match to potentially meet the Danes again.

Canada OpTic Gaming - Losers' decider
W:L - 0:1
Won against: No one.
Lost againstDenmark Astralis - de_Dust2 (7:8, 0:8)

OpTic Gaming weren't able to to stand up against the Danes quite like the Grand final of ELEAGUE Season 2, meaning they were knocked down into the losers' bracket of the decider matches. The will now have to face fellow North American representatives Cloud9 and FaZe Clan if they want to recreate the Grand final of the tournament win they recently came out of.

United States Cloud9 - Losers' decider
W:L - 0:1
Won against: No one.
Lost againstEurope FaZe Clan - de_Mirage (5:10, 1:6)

Cloud9 fell to FaZe Clan in the second match of the day, taking the same route as OpTic. The two teams will now face each other in the losers' decider bracket to determine who gets the shot at FaZe Clan and potentially the title.

Group B

France Team EnVyUs - Semi-finals
W:L - 2:0
Won againstBrazil Immortals - de_Cache (5:10, 10:5, 7:4), Denmark Team Dignitas - de_Nuke (12:3, 4:0)
Lost against: No one.

Team EnVyUs prove to the world that they can never be counted out. The first match-up for the team was against Immortals, producing the only map where we saw not only an overtime, but a double overtime. The persistence and experience of the individual players on the French side made up for a victory, as the team grabs a 22:19 victory. Following this match they faced Dignitas on de_Nuke, where they had little to no issues taking the map away at a 16:3 score. The Frenchmen are the second team to qualify for a spot in the semi-finals, where they await the winner of group A's decider match.

Denmark Team Dignitas - Winners' decider
W:L - 1:1
Won againstBrazil SK Gaming - de_Overpass (12:3, 4:4)
Lost againstFrance Team EnVyUs - de_Nuke (3:12, 0:4)

Dignitas secure a spot in the winners' decider bracket after successfully overpowering none other than SK Gaming on de_Overpass with a 16:7 score line. They did, however, fall to Team EnVyUs on de_Nuke, where it was apparent that the team had not been practicing the map very much. The Danes await the lower bracket decider outcome to determine the team that will be facing them for a spot in the semi-finals.

Brazil Immortals - Losers' decider
W:L - 0:1
Won against: No one.
Lost against: France Team EnVyUs - de_Cache (10:5, 5:10, 4:7)

Immortals demonstrated a solid start to the map, with a rather extensive lead. The Frenchmen reciprocated the score in the second half, leading to overtime. Said overtime didn't see a single team run away with a two round lead, meaning a second overtime was to be seen. In the concluding overtime, the Brazilians weren't about to close out, falling short of a potential flawless group stage. Now they will face SK Gaming in the losers' decider to determine the team that will face Team Dignitas in the deciding match.

Brazil SK Gaming - Losers' decider
W:L - 0:1
Won against: No one.
Lost againstDenmark Team Dignitas - de_Overpass (3:12, 4:4)

SK Gaming fell to a fired up Team Dignitas in their match-up against them with a 7:16 deficit. Whether it's the recent addition of Ricardo "fox" Pacheco and insufficient time to integrate, or simply being outperformed by the Danes, the Brazilians stump to the lower bracket and face fellow countrymen and friends, Immortals. The team that emerges victorious from that match-up will face Dignitas in the upper bracket, in a bid to secure a semi-final placement.
