OpTic wins ELEAGUE Season 2

The North American team secured an important win with their triumph over Astralis in the grand final series of ELEAGUE season 2, netting them the hefty $400,000 first place prize as well as the league title. Although the Danes started out strong on the opening map, OpTic were able to close them out on the subsequent two; check out our winner's news for a summary of each map as well as final standings.

IEM finals set for Katowice

Katowice will play host this year for the 11th annual Intel Extreme Masters finals for League of Legends, Starcraft 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, bringing the three games to two separate venues in the Polish city. Read a snippet of ESL VP Michal Blicharz's thoughts on the announcement below:

Last March we thought we needed two arenas to really satisfy the number of people that wanted to the world’s best gamers compete at Intel Extreme Masters. We were obviously unable to construct a second indoor arena, so we’ve expanded the World Championship to take place over two major esports weekends.

 

tahsiN out of PENTA

PENTA has lost yet another member with this weeks's announcement that Tahsin "tahsiN" Broschk has decided to step down from the line-up following back-to-back group stage exits from recent tournaments as well as 3rd-4th finish at the most recent edition of ESL's Meisterschaft, a tournament the team was favoured to win. 

valde to stand in for Dignitas

The Danish team has sourced a replacement for Emil "Magiskb0Y" Reif at ECS following their announcement that they will temporarily be bringing in Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså to take his spot. valde has strong résumé in the local scene, having previously played for CPH Wolves and currently serving as a starter for Heroic.

ex-Platinium signs with Vexed

Vexed Gaming has been without a CS:GO line-up since March of this year when the organisation decided to part ways with their Polish roster following a decision by the parent company to disassociate themselves from professional gaming. That decision seems to have been reversed however as Vexed has announced they have secured the services of a new team, the French line-up known as WE GOT GAME.
