OpTic Gaming has announced that they have officially released Damian "daps" Steele just hours before their ESL NY qualification.
The North American organization has been making headlines today following their qualification for the much anticipated ESL One New York, but surprisingly that qualification was achieved with a stand-in, Timothy "autimatic" Ta; OpTic have now officially confirmed the removal of the absent player from the roster, Damian "daps" Steele. In his place, the team has opted to bring back Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz, who was removed last month to make room for Tarik "tarik" Celik. Daps had the following to say about the changes on Twitter:
I'm not going to write about every iteration of the roster and all the events we attended but this all started on July 3rd, 2015 after my 2 month break after being replaced on Team Liquid where I was given a shot to play again on eLevate and back than I was a lot worse so I have to thank RUSH for vouching for me to give me another shot at helping build a roster that would eventually improve over the past year till now. I am happy that we kept the core of NAF, RUSH and I for so long and were able to improve so much over that period of time and even though things came to an end and it hurts to not be playing with the team anymore I think it is for the best at the end of the day.
Regardless of any tension stanislaw and I had over the course of our time playing together I truly do respect him and his work ethic as that is hard to find with a lot of players which has helped our teams success ever since we picked him up last year. Stanislaw is a really good player, very smart and will do an excellent job leading the team in the future.”
