The next $1,000,000 major will be hosted by ELEAGUE at the end of January.
ELEAGUE has announced that it will play host to the next CS:GO major, taking place January 22-29. The entire tournament will be broadcast in full via Twitch, not just the observer feed as was suspected by some, and the grand final will be simulacast on Twitch and TBS. The event will take place at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia which will be open to spectators from the playoffs, beginning on the 27th, onward. The Fox Theatre holds less than 5,000 people, and will be the smallest venue since Dreamhack Winter 2014.
Half of the teams that will compete in the major will be decided at an offline qualifier at ELEAGUE studios from December 15-18. Competitors at the qualifier will consist of eight teams from a Regional Minor system along with the bottom eight finishers from ESL One Cologne:
Ninjas in Pyjamas | mousesports | Faze Clan | |
Counter Logic Gaming | Optic Gaming | Team EnVyUs | G2 Esports |
The top eight from the qualifier will head to the major along with the top eight finishers from Cologne:
SK Gaming | Team Liquid | GODSENT | Virtus.pro |
Flipsid3 Tactics | Astralis | Gambit Gaming | Natus Vincere |
