Fnatic has revealed a new roster to spearhead their newly-formed CS:GO Academy division.
In the wake of the fracture of fnatic's legendary CS:GO team, many speculated on what would be the next move for the London-based organization. Starting today, fnatic will be launching a secondary feeder team, fnatic Academy. This new squad will focus on cultivating up-and-coming players in the scene by supplying them with the resources conducive to helping players mature, including such things as coaching and salary, which fnatic hopes will supply them with talent for their main line-ups.
Fnatic Academy has already been filled out with a full roster of players as well as coach, featuring names culled from various semi-professional teams in Sweden. Heading up the current line-up is Niclas “PlesseN” Plessen, who has previous ties with fnatic having been a stand-in for the team during Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer's recovery from his wrist surgery. In terms of coaching, fnatic Academy will be under the guidance of Andreas “Samuelsson” Samuelsson, who has been about the professional scene since 1.6 and has extensive coaching experience in CS:GO; he had the following to say about the announcement in his official statement:
The Academy Team is an exciting project which includes five of the best young talents in Europe. All five players have the potential to become great pro players with the right dedication and motivation. Our goal is to gain as much experience as possible this year, both online and offline and finally qualify for a Major in late 2017. I’m confident that we can achieve that goal together. I also want to give a big shout out to Patrik “cArn” Sättermon and Fnatic for their full support.”
The current fnatic Academy roster consists of:
Niclas “PlesseN” Plessen
Aleksandar “jayzaR” Zarkovic
Alex “Karus” Saglamoglu
Linus “Bååten” Andersson
Maikil “GOLDEN” Selim
