MVP: Belgium Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom

The first semi-final of the ECS Season 1 Finals at the SSE Arena in Wembley pitted Fnatic against G2. Map 1 of the BO3 series was Fnatic’s pick, Overpass, with G2 starting on the CT side. The Frenchmen (and “Scream”) picked up the pistol and the first two ecos to take an early 3-0 lead. After picking up the first gun round, G2 seized control and took a massive 8-0 lead before Fnatic answered with a 1v2 clutch from Jesper "JW" Wecksell. Fnatic were unable to pick up the following round to stabilize their economy and G2 ran away with the half 13-2.

Riding their momentum, G2 picked up the second pistol as well and eventually closed out the map 16-2, dealing the current Fnatic line-up their worst loss to date.

Fnatic opened up Dust2 after regrouping, picking up an early 3-0 lead before G2 could respond. Fnatic bounced back and destroyed the T economy, going up 8-1. G2 managed to recover, thanks to a brilliant ace from "Scream" and they eventually salvaged the half for a score of 9-6 in favour of Fnatic.

G2 won the pistol round and were closing in on Fnatic, before the Swedes found momentum of their own and they began to pull away, 12-7. G2 once again responded strongly and evened up the score at 12-12 before taking a lead of their own, 14-12. Fnatic managed to get one round back before the Frenchmen sealed the map at 16-13 for an impressive 2-0 series win.

Brazil Luminosity v. Canada Team SoloMid 12:3, 4:0 (16:3) 7:8, 9:6 (16:14)
Winner: Brazil Luminosity
Maps: de_Overpass, de_Cbble
MVP: Brazil Lincoln “fnx” Lau

The second semi-final of ECS Season 1 begin on Luminosity’s map pick Overpass with the Brazilians picking up the first three rounds on their CT side. TSM struggled to reply until the seventh round and then Luminosity missed a great opportunity to reset TSM’s economy because of a 1v3 clutch by Pujan “FNS” Mehta. The Canadian-American mixed team managed to pick up one more round before Luminosity shut down their streak and closed out the half 12-3, which included a 3v5.

Luminosity managed to pick up the second pistol as well, and they managed to confidently close out the map despite a small hiccup in the seventeenth round.

Luminosity, again on CT side, picked up the first pistol of the map on Cobblestone, before TSM responded with a force buy win. Luminosity rebought and swiftly took a 5-1 lead before TSM cut the deficit back down to one round, 4-5. The last rounds of the half went back and forth but TSM came out on top 8-7 at the half.

The North Americans managed to pick up the pistol and two ecos in the second half before Luminosity kept themselves in the game, winning the first gun round to trail 8-11. TSM prevented the Brazilians from equalizing the score in the twenty-second round, taking a 12-10 lead. Luminosity rallied back and managed to keep the North Americans from winning that key fifteenth round and they eventually won the map 16-14 and the series 2-0.

France G2 v. Brazil Luminosity 8:7, 8:4 (16:11) 11:4, 5:1 (16:5)
Winner: France G2
Maps: de_Dust2, de_Overpass
MVP: France Richard “shox” Papillon

G2 started the Grand Final on their map pick Dust2 on T side, but a quick push into both upper tunnels from lower and B site by the Brazilians decimated their first round plans. G2 bounced back in the force buy and evened out the score. The half continued in similar fashion, with rounds going back and forth, neither team solidifying their economy, and continuous force buy wins by G2 to keep the CT economy at bay. Fernando "fer" Alvarenga kept the T side from running away with the half with a massive 3k in a 2v4 situation. With neither team taking control in the first half, the half ended with a one round lead for G2, 8-7.

The first four rounds of the second half went exactly the same way as the first, with the CTs winning the pistol, the Ts winning the force buy and the following round, and the CTs bouncing back on the fourth round. After that fourth round, the score was even at 10-10 and G2 managed to pick up three more round to force the Brazilians to take a tactical timeout. After the timeout, there was a glimmer of hope for Luminosity when they decreased the deficit to 11-13 but G2 managed to get a perfect read on the defence thanks to a brilliant smoke on car from “shox” to obstruct Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo’s view. Following this read, the CT economy destroyed and G2 won their map pick 16-11.

Luminosity were expected to destroy G2 on their own map pick Overpass but G2 took an unprecedented 7-0 lead on the T side. Luminosity managed to piece together three rounds in a row but G2 picked up three more leaving little room for a comeback. Lincoln "fnx" Lau picked up a 4k in the last round of the half for a score of 11-4 in favour of G2.

G2 kept the pressure on Luminosity with a 4k from “shox” in the pistol. Luminosity failed to muster a comeback G2 won the map in impressive fashion, 16-5, to win the series against the world #1 team and to become champions of ECS Season 1.
