ESL One New York to feature CS:GO

This year's edition of ESL One New York will feature Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for the first time in its history.

US-based CS:GO fans have yet another large offline event to enjoy, as ESL has announced that the annual ESL One New York tournament will include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for the first time, in addition to the usual League of Legends and Dota events. In past years, ESL One New York has graced a number of iconic NYC venues, including Madison Square Garden, and this time around will be set in the Barclays Center, a indoor arena capable of holding over 18,000 fans.

ESL Vice President Ulrich Schulze had the following to say about the reveal:

ESL’s commitment to a healthy and sustainable growth of the esports industry is best illustrated with events like ESL One New York expanding to the Festival level with more games. This expansion and adding exciting new venues like Barclays Center are the best examples of how rapid that growth is. We couldn’t be more excited to bring world-class esports competitions to fans on the East Coast come the first of October.”

At the moment eight teams are set to attend the inaugural $250,000 event, although ESL has not yet disclosed what teams specifically will be competing this fall, or even details on what format the tournament will take. Currently ESL One New York is slated to span two days, from October 1st to the 2nd.
