Na'Vi wins IEM San Jose

The latest tournament in the Intel Extreme Masters circuit closed out this week in San Jose, California with Natus Vincere smashing their Danish rivals Team SoloMid 2-0 in the grandfinals match. The result was especially suprising as TSM came into the series as the clear favorites, but instead Na'Vi turned around and thrashed them on both maps; check out our winner's news for a round by round recap.

ESL buys out ESEA

A major coporate move took place earlier this week as ESL announced that they would be buying ESEA, one of the largest CS:GO leagues and pug providers in North America. ESEA founder Eric "Ipkane" Thunberg had the following to say about the acquisition:

?It's no secret that esports is booming, and this was a necessary step in order for ESEA to remain relevant as larger companies enter the gaming landscape. In choosing ESL, both a longtime partner and one of the founding companies of esports, I'm confident that ESEA will be in good hands for years to come. ESEA has been an incredibly fun ride. I'm immensely proud of both what we've built over the past twelve years, as well as the extremely loyal and close knit community that's grown up with us along the way --­­ your support did not go unnoticed.

Team MVP enters CS:GO

In a rare piece of Korean Counter-Strike news, Team MVP has revealed that they have signed their first CS:GO team this week. The roster, consisting of the remenants of the myRevenge and m0nster. The Korean organization clearly has high expectattions for the lineup, as they have already arranged for the team to move into a gaming house. For more info, read the full article here.

MLG to host NA major

Major League Gaming has announced this week that they will be hosting the first-ever CS:GO major in North America next year in Columbus, Ohio. The event will be played out in the Nationwide Arena, which boasts nearly 19,000, as well in MLG's own private arena. Adam Apicella of MLG had the following to say about the event:

 For our first CS:GO event we brought the competition to the Aspen X Games. We wanted to bring the game back to North American fans in a big way, and hosting a Major in front of thousands of spectators at Nationwide Arena is an exciting way to do that.

ESL Pro League EU division ends

The second season of the ESEA ESL Pro League has been underway since September, with both, the North American and the European teams vying for the top spots in the standings. Finally, the EU half is now complete with the final match, EnVyUs versus mousesports, being played out today. Check out the final standings for the European division in the main article, found here.
