Second EU qualifier for ESL Cologne comes to an end

The second online pre-qualifier for the European division has come to an end with seven more teams to attend the offline qualifier for the event.

The second EU pre-qualifier has gathered a total of 545 teams set to fight it out for seven more slots that were available for the European division. The offline qualifier for ESL Cologne will be played out during July 25-26, with four teams, out of sixteen qualified from EU, will be advancing to compete at the major.

The online pre-qualifier was played as a single elimination best-of-one game. The qualifier started with the round of 1024 and when it reached the round of 32 the format switched to the double elimination bracket.

The first day saw a lot of emotions, however, in the end the favorites have come out on top with the likes of Team Kinguin, KILLERFISH, Rock and the ex-TryPANTS (now known as Epiphany) advancing to the offine phase of the qualifiers.

The next day brought us even more emotions as the likes of nEophyte, LGB, LDLC Blue, Epsilon, Gamers2, Reason and many more fought it out for the final three slots. The first two teams to qualify from the lower bracket were Gamers2 and LGB who both defeated Spanish teams - p@p@d@s and Epsilon respectivly.

The final match for the final slot has pitted two Spanish teams against each other with a mix team p@p@d@s coming out on top of Epsilon defeating their countrymen in a dramatic game 16-13. p@p@d@s will be travelling to the offline qualifiers with the ex-k1ck member who has just been released by AlienTech Christopher "mUttt" Fernandes.
