The opening day of the thirteenth season of SLTV StarSeries was reserved for the first portion of the group stage matches. Natus Vincere and Team EnVyUs, the two teams which came to this tournament as a clear favourites were a bit shaky but still managed to mantain a decent level of the results.

During the first day the spotlight was set on Gplay, the most pleasent surprise of the tournament. The Bulgarian team came to this LAN finals as a replacement for Titan and yet they managed to upset the title defenders, EnVyUs. Moreover, they dropped the map to Na'Vi after a real thriller in a very close match which ended 16-14 for the Ukranian side. Finally, they rounded up a very successful day with the victory over HellRaisers.

If Gplay was the most pleasent surprise of the first day, than we must say that HellRaisers were the biggest disappointment. A CIS team came to this event weaker for their core player Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov, but still they were in a great shape prior to this event, scoring some very promising results online. However, today nothing worked their way. They first lost to Gamers2 which then additionally pulled them further down, where they followed with the two more defeats by EnVyUs and Gplay.

Besides Gplay, Gamers2 also showed a very good performance. In absence of Virtus.pro, Gamers2 showed that Poland has more to show as they were fatal for two out of three CIS teams today. They started off with the win against HellRaisers, but then they were defeated by FlipSid3. In the closing match of the day they crashed Na'Vi in a such dominant fashion that everyone was just left speechless.

The tournament will resume tomorrow with the second portion of the group stage matches. It will be very interesting to see who will fight their way through it, as only the top four teams will move on to the playoffs.
