EU tournaments review: VP and NiP reigning at the top

We are back with the weekly ongoing tournaments review and we will take a closer look at the events featuring the European teams.

ESL ESEA Pro League - $500,000

This week has brought us a change on the standings. Fnatic and Virtus.pro have been finally moved from the first place and the Swedish team, Ninjas in Pyjamas, are currently sitting at the top of the table with the score of 8-6. Although the Swedes are currently first placed, their performance is still a bit shaky as they are struggling to find the right form. They have even changed an in-game leader, so GeT_RiGhT is now calling the shots. The most recent match of NiP saw them lose 16-3 to TSM which shows that there is still a lot to be seen in this league before we can actually be sure who will advance to the LAN stage. Currently the most serious candidates for these spots are NiP, TSM, VP, Fnatic, Dignitas and Natus Vincere.

CEVO Season 7 - $135,000

The CEVO standings are still topped by Virtus.pro who didn't allow any upsets during this week, so they are still reigning at the top with the score of 6-1-1. However, NiP is breathing down their neck with 5-1-0 score, where they have just scored their first draw against Publiclir, after a five consecutive wins. The rest of the teams are all tied up and it still to be seen who will make it through to the LAN finals. However, Na'Vi has only played 3 matches so far and Team Solomid haven't played a single one yet, so once those two teams start rolling in CEVO league we will have a much better picture of the standings and contenders for the LAN spots.

SLTV StarSeries XIII - $68,000

This week compared to the last has brought a lot action in StarLadder's StarSeries XIII. We can see some teams already advancing to the next stage after their dominant performance in the opening matches. In group A Na'Vi is the first team to advance with the two wins, while FlipSid3 and INShock are still fighting for second place. Group B has HellRaisers sitting in first place with the spot in the next stage while the other three teams are still to fight for the second spot. The Group C has yet to see more matches as only the opening ones were played, but with the current standings Dignitas and x6tence are in the lead. In the last group, we can see a pleasent surprise where Gamers2 are already through as the first placed team, leaving Kinguin, EnVyUs and undefined, the ex-CPH Wolves team, behind them to fight for the second spot.

Counter Pit League - $50,000

This week didn't bring a lot of action in the Counter Pit League as we could see only one played match between Virtus.pro and Natus Vincere. It seems that there is some curse within these matches, as all three played matches have finished with the similiar score of 1-1. We will have to wait a bit for the next one to see if Penta Sports and Team EnVyUs will be able to change it the pattern.

Fragbite Masters Season 4 - $71,000

The LAN finalists for the season 4 of Fragbite Masters are almost known. The three out of four teams have been determinated and the last team will be known after the last two matches have been played. The teams which secured their spot through the upper bracket are Natus Vincere who defeated HellRaisers to earn the ticket, and Team Solomid who won against Fnatic in a very tight match. However, HellRaisers have managed, in the end, to get their ticket for the LAN finals through the lower bracket where they had to defeat nEophyte. Team EnVyUs, Acer and Fnatic will duke it out for the last spot.
