EU tournaments review: VP at the top of ESL ESEA and CEVO

We are back with the weekly ongoing tournaments review and we will take a closer look at the events featuring the European teams.

ESL ESEA Pro League - $500,000

The first on the list is ESL ESEA Pro League where we can see a leading team finally suffering their first loss. Team Solomid managed to take a slice of Fnatic who were up to 5-0 before dropping their first map to the Danish team. Besides the phenomenal play and the great comeback by TSM, Fnatic also had the disadvantage of playing without one of their core players, Jesper "JW" Wecksell. JW had a PC issue and therefore was unable to help his teammates achieve another win. However, Fnatic is currently tied up with Virtus.pro who also have 5-1 score and the Polish team is tied with Na'Vi, probably the team with the best performance these days. The next playday which is scheduled for Saturday 23rd will bring us a duel between the two leading teams and it will be interesting to see who will maintain the top seed of this division.

CEVO Season 7 - $135,000

Virtus.pro is also sitting at the top of the European part of CEVO Season 7 where they have a score of 5-1-1. The Polish squad had a draw with LGB eSports and they were defeated by Ninjas in Pyjamas who are currently sitting at second place with a perfect score of 4-0-0. The Swedes are so far the number one contenders for the first place of this Division, but due to the low amount of played games they are still ranked below Virtus.pro. It's also worth mentioning that Team Solomid are yet to play their first match at CEVO, so the race for the first place will surely become more interesting once the Danish guys jump in.

SLTV StarSeries XIII - $68,000

One of the tournaments which started this week is StarLadder's StarSeries XIII. The match which was in the spotlight was between Team Kinguin and ex CPH Wolves where the newly formed squad led by Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom and Mikail "Maikelele" Bill had their first official match.  Gamers2 already made a first upset in the group stage by defeating EnVyUs with 2-0 and knocking them down to the lower bracket of group D. The rest of the results you can see in the table below.

Counter Pit League - $50,000

The inaugural season of Counter Pit League kicked off. In the opening match of group A we saw Virtus.pro and Dignitas sharing points by getting a draw, while Team Solomid and EnVyUs did exactly the same in the group B. The twelve teams are split into two groups and by looking at the names it definitely looks like we will witness a crazy race for the top seeds which are leading to the next stage of this tournament.

Fragbite Masters Season 4 - $71,000

And the last on the list is Season 4 of Fragbite Masters. The tournament has already moved on to the playoffs stage. However, the last match of the group stage is yet to be played so the final list of the participating teams in the playoffs is still unknown. In the opening match of the playoffs Natus Vincere smashed down Team EnVyUs with 2-0 and sent them to the lower bracket. Here is a full overview of the playoffs bracket:
