Team SoloMid have won the FACEIT London LAN Finals following a 2-1 victory over NiP.
The final day of the FACEIT Stage 1 LAN finals brought us two semi final matches as well as the grand finals. The first match to open the day was between Fnatic and Team SoloMid. Fnatic were looking for revenge over their lose a week ago at CCS LAN finals, where TSM claimed a title defeating Fnatic 3-1. However, once again the Danish team remained undefeated against their Swedish opponents by knocking them out of the tournament. They demonstrated a very strong CT side on both maps, overcoming the deficit from the first halves and taking both maps 2-0. The second match-up of the day saw Ninjas in Pyjamas and Virtus.pro fighting for the second place at grand finals. This match had a really awkward flow. We saw both teams being very dominant on first two maps, with NiP winning de_inferno 16-6 and VP taking de_overpass with 16-5. However, the third map came down to the last round where NiP came out as the winners 16-14.
The grand finals of the event was especially strange to watch, as an alleged DDoS attack on the FACEIT ISP delayed the first map for hours. When the first map, de_inferno finally started, NiP looked extremely on point and TSM were constantly choking. This lead to a half of 14-1 in favour of the Swedes, and eventually an extremely dominant scoreline of 16-1 as NiP took the first map.
de_dust2 brought a whole entire new matchup, as TSM finally woke up and began to patch together rounds. The Danish team was able to end the first half in a very respectable 10-5 scoreline, only to have the same happen to them when NiP were able to tie it up 15-15. However, this was all in vain as TSM were able to clutch the first overtime match of the tournament, eventually winning 21-18.
The final map of the tournament came down to de_cache, where things were kept very close the first half, as TSM managed to just edge out a slight lead at 8-7. However, when sides changed things got completely different, as TSM began to play with great aim and strategy. Eventually, they were able to gain 8 more rounds in the second half compared to NiP's measly 5 to win the map, match, and tournament 16-12.
