FlipSid3 came out victorious, taking first place at the CIS Championship LAN finals and $5,000 grand prize after the three long days in Voronezh, Russia.
The CIS Championship was hosted during this weekend in Voronezh, Russia, where the eight teams fought for the lion's share of #10,000. Among the biggest names coming to this event were FlipSid3 and HellRaisers who were also seeded in different groups.
As expected, both HellRaisers and FlipSid3 topped their groups without a lost a single game, moving on to the upper bracket of the playoffs, while USSR and GGWP accompanied them in the upper part of the playoffs bracket. The other four teams who were placed 3rd and 4th in the group stage were placed in the lower bracket of the playoffs.
HR and FlipSid3 took a quick 2-0 wins and scheduled their duel in the upper bracket finals, where FS came out on the top with a 2-0 score. HellRaisers had a hard time in the lowers bracket finals against ACES. They were a map down, but they still managed to win 2-1 and to schedule another duel against FlipSid3.
Coming to the grand finals from the upper bracket, FlipSid3 had a map advantage in the best-of-five series. The first map, de_cobblestone, was totally dominated by FS as they won eight rounds on T side, where HR managed to get only 7 on CT side. As they switched the sides, FS won all the rounds of the second half for 16-7. The second map which was de_overpass, saw more or less the same scenario. This time FS lost first half on T side with 7-8, but they showed once again a very strong CT side and won this map with 16-10.
