ESL to host female tournament after ESL One Katowice

The Electronic Sports League announces that they will be hosting the first female-only LAN event of the year after ESL One Katowice with a prize pool of $30,000.

The tournament, called the Intel Challenge Katowice, will commence on March 15 at the Spodek Arena, which is the final day of ESL One Katowice. This female-only tournament will feature four of the best womens teams in the world who will fight for a share of the $30,000 prize pool.

ESL will be organising qualifiers in Poland and other countries within Europe and the United States during the next two weeks to determine the LAN participants. The European qualifiers will contribute two spots while the Polish and North American qualifiers will each have one spot each.

On February 17 and 19 there will be two European cups, with each tournament awarding the top two teams with positions in the continental qualifer. The two sides will also secure places in Katowice.

The following are the dates of the qualifying cups for Intel Challenge Katowice:

 

  • European Qualifier Cup #1 - 17.02.2015
  • Polish Qualifier Cup - 18.02.2015
  • European Qualifier Cup #2 - 19.02.2015
  • American Qualifier Cup - 21.02.2015
  • European Qualifier Final - 22.02.2015
