Team LDLC and Fnatic top their groups at FACE IT LAN finals

Day 1 of FACE IT Season 2 LAN Finals has come to an end. Team LDLC and Fnatic topped their groups without a single loss and the other two semi finalists will be known after tomorrow's matches.

The opening day of FACE IT Season 2 LAN Finals started with a huge delay of aproximately five hours due to internet issues at the venue. That wasn't the only problem: GOTV wasn't working so the group B matches between Fnatic and Team Dignitas weren't streamed, since secondary casters couldn't access the match. Although it was said on the main stream that the second channel would cast that match it still didn't happen and the community was only able to see the end score.

The initial match of the LAN finals was between Team LDLC and Cloud9. The format was set to Home/Away best of one matches, so they were playing two maps in a row. The first pick was made by LDLC and it was de_inferno. The French team was looking amazing with SmithZz was playing one of the best matches recently doing some incredible shots and performing ACE. The finals score was 16-6. The second map, de_dust2, which was Cloud9's pick started as a close match where at the end of first half was 8-7 for LDLC, but in the second half they easily transformed that lead into the victory of 16-11.

The second match of group A was played between Virtus.pro and Team LDLC. The Polish team picked de_cache only to go on and lose the game on it. They got completely demolished with 7-16, losing CT side with 6-9. On de_inferno, VP delivered a big punch to the French team leaving them behind 12-3, but shoxie and co. showed once again that they are arguably the strongest team at the moment. LDLC made a real comeback with 13-2 for the final score of 16-14 into their favor.

Group B saw two matches with Fnatic who first took on the Danish team Dignitas and then iBUYPOWER. As it was already mentioned, the match between Fnatic and Dignitas wasn't casted so we could only see the half time/end score. Judging by it, the Swedes easily defeated Dignitas. The first map was de_overpass with 16-3 for Fnatic, while the second one was de_mirage with the score 16-5 for the win.

The last match of day one saw one more North American team, iBUYPOWER taking on Fnatic. Both maps were really close, but it was looking like the Americans couldn't pull it off until the end. Fnatic took the first map, de_inferno, with 16-12 but and came back on dust2 from a 0-7 deficit to take another 16-12 win for the overall 2-0.

Team LDLC and Fnatic are the first semi finalists while the other four teams will play tomorrow for the other two spots. The semi finals will be played in best-of-three, while the grand finals will feature a best-of-five match.
