Godaddy.com Becomes A Lead Sponsor Of WSOP

The World Series of Poker announced this week that Godaddy.com has signed to become a "premier sponsor" for the 2011 WSOP. Along with Jack Links Beef Jerky, Godaddy.com will be featured on every poker table plus television integration and on-site branding.

Godaddy.com is the largest U.S. domain registrant company and advertises heavily to maintain its position.

Godaddy.com previously identified the growing poker community as a good one to target when they hired poker pro Vanessa Rousso to join their stable of attractive women promoting the brand.

For the World Series of Poker, adding another noted and established non-poker sponsor furthers their goal to expand the brand.

The World Series of Poker has had a number of different premier sponsors since Caesar's purchased and tried to more heavily market the series.

Party Poker was on of the first sponsors but later pulled out when the UIGEA was passed into law forcing Party Poker to pull out of the US market and temporarily had PartyPoker.net sponsor the tournament series.

In 2008, Everest Poker replaced Party Poker after inking a multi-year deal with the World Series of Poker. The three-year, $22.5 million on-felt sponsorship deal would eventually end up falling apart after Everest Poker alleged that their logo wasn't being shown on some international broadcasts of the World Series of Poker and sued for breach of contract.

Godaddy.com joins Jack Links and Dearfoam slippers as 2011 sponsors.
