Calyx: "My ultimate goal is to become the best player in the world."

You suffered a defeat against Space Soldiers at the Grand Final of the Multiplayer CS: GO League despite starting off well. Things didn’t go to plan after you took the lead on de_Cobblestone, when it was 9-8. What were the positives and negatives of the match, both for you personally and for the team?

We started off strong and played well in the first half as Terrorists. In the second half our communication wasn’t on point, especially on Bombsite B. Our opponents expoited this well and they made us play differentl to our normal game style. I can say that we lost the game when our control over Bombsite B was lost. After that, we couldn’t pull ourselves together.

You have improved a lot recently as a team. As a result, you’ve put a lot of pressure onto Space Soldiers. What is the main goal of Dark Passage? Is it to beat Space Soldiers and become the best Turkish team or to enjoy international success?

I can say it’s both. We of course want to become the best team in our country, but international success is very important for us.

You’ve returned from WESG Global Finals with a quarter-finals exit. Do you think of it as a success?

Our aim was to go as far as we could. After securing first place in the group, we faced Virtus.pro. That was a tough task for us, we were expecting EnVyUs, we might have had a better chance against them but in the end it was Virtus.pro.

I think the main reasons behind our loss against VP were lack of experience and the number of mistakes we made. I see that quarter-final as a success because we’re a quite new team, we’ve been together for just six months and fighting that well against a team like Virtus.pro is not easy.

2017 has started well for you. You faced top tier teams such as G2 and Virtus.pro. Both match-ups were so close. Can we expect Dark Passage to be seen more in the international arena?

Of course you can. As I said before, one of our goals is to be successful at international events.

You’re 18 but despite your young age, you’re putting in great performances against top teams. Furthermore, you have long years ahead of you to change your career into something exceptional. What is your ultimate goal in your career?

First, I want to be successful with my team but my ultimate goal in my career is to become the best player in the world.

Thank you for accepting our interview request and good luck in your next matches.
